They use Altec 416-8C woofer, Altec 802-8G mounted to a 511B horn and a JBL 077 tweeter. Then there is the corner horn loaded with a JBL 2220, LE175 driver on a H91 horn and finished with a L94 lens.

Yeah it turned out better than expected. Must have been the square cuts, eh Gary?

I like it a lot, it really adds the dimension I was missing. I'm still toying with placement and levels. Which is fun.

Excellent!

I have this morbid fascination with subwoofers. Most of them I'm not entirely impressed with but that doesn't stop me.

I have read good things about the Triska sub. Maybe I will get a chance to listen to it some day working with your Met. 7's :yes:

Here's a sub I did for a friend. It's a 10" from Martin Sound (2601, don't know if it's still available or not) powered by a PE 100W plate. Sounded pretty good with the sats which are the Adire Pop! I wanted to check out Dan's design and a friend wanted some speakers so it worked out well. The difference in wood look is my crappy photography, they're the same sheet of veneer with the same stain and finish. I also learned to paint the grill frame black before putting the cloth on as it shows in flash photos. (side note to Specialidiot: these went to Dr. Janet in SLC)

DIY Crossover for Altec 605's

Everyone's building boxes , and beautiful ones at that. My interest was a better crossover for my Altec 605A's. These were new in 1963 and were a sub for the then discontinued 604s. My goal was to design & build a passive time delayed XO to compensate for the time offset due to Horn signal path.
I developed a test Pulse to measure time delay on my Mac with SignalScope software. An old text book (12th-ed. 1939- 1970's) led me to a Bessel flat delay Low Pass filter to start. After several years of winding coils and bridging caps, measuring and listening , I found a Low Pass design and a companion High Pass filter I was happy with. The two filters split the test pulse, adding the proper LF delay and the 605's put it back together acoustically

WOW....soooo much incredible tallent here. Very glad to see such interest and daring. Very well done to all!

Here are a few of my latest contibutions. Several use recycled cabinets with differant driver compliments.

My hat off to all who endevor and OPEN the audio envelope

It started with a fullrange Frazier I had in the basement. I ended up with three and tore one apart to see what was going on. Just a asymmetrical bass reflex design, but it works great.

I can vouch for that! The cabinet design has proven ideal for the FE103E. The finished product sounds as good as it looks. :thmbsp:
