This is my first attempt at DIY speakers, so far they are functionally complete, but I need to finish up some exterior bits to make them look better. I used plans from the GA tech website for the Vifa 2 way loudspeaker. So far, I am thoroughly impressed at the sound these little guys are making. I plan on using them as my computer speakers. I used 3/4" birch plywood and bamboo mahogany stain. They still need a good rub down with some fine grit sandpaper and a light steel wool so I can put on a few more coats of stain for some of the areas that didn't get covered as well. I'm already starting to mess around with the speaker building programs to design my own from scratch! Thankfully, I have the good fortune of living 2 freeway exits away from Parts Express.
The ones I was looking for were the ones at the DIY room at the AKfest... white pipes in a "U" shape.

Making a set of mid/high cabinets to go with my 1939 Shearer bass bin which is 105db/eff. Drivers are (2)Audax PR170MO tightly spaced to give me the 105db and also a Ciare(Italian)1/38 tweeter which is 6 1/2" diameter and is rated for 150 watts and is also 105db eff.
Used some Honduras Mahogany I had left over. Stained it with Masters "Crimson Fire" and then sprayed on 4 coats of Catalyzed Lacquer.
Got the drivers installed.
Grill frames just fit.
grills covered
bare tops
tops and bottoms covered with stiff felt panels
Finished product, now need to wire in the inductors and caps.
Should be ok for use in the garage system.:yes:

Sorry I haven't been keeping up with this thread. Those were mine. What do you want to know about them?
The driver is a Tang Band W3-871s, it's mounted in an endcap, and it's about a 16" line overall. Stuffing is quilt batting material that's rolled up (stays put easily).
Todd (Ozmoid) has them now so if you want a listen you'll have to go to NC.

Subwoofer driver is a Parts Express Titanic 12" in a five cubic foot cabinet that is rear tube ported. Its amplifier is in the cabinet on floor behind right speaker. I built the subwoofer for my system previously.
A friend gave me a set of unknown brand odd sized 11" carbon fiber drivers a few years later. I built rear slot vent ported cabinets for them to match the subwoofer for kicks. The drivers are wired full range with no crossovers. Added bullet super tweeter with its supplied 3uf cap from Parts Express. I tried different tweeters and the bullets ended up sounding the best. Nothing fancy. Done for fun. 3/4" MDF painted satin black. They sound better than they should. DIY is a lot of fun and enjoying it after wards is even more so.

Wow. I've never felt a need to use more than ONE Audax PR170MO at one time.
Two of them should seriously get loud on almost NO power at all!
So, you're going to run the Shearers and the mid-high cabinets all off of one amp?

Two of the Audax butted up together gives me the 105db/watt rating. I'm using an electronic crossover Tri-amped. A Crown Macro Reference on the 2 JBl 2226 woofers in the Shearer horn. A Crown K2 on the 4 Audax mids, and the amp in the Onkyo receiver to power the tweeters.:thmbsp:

I just got these "Wigo" speakers out of there "A13's" 1970's and am trying to think of how to start this whole thing off. I tested all of the speakers and the x-oxer (will recap) and have no idea how the enclosures should lbe made. I have all winter for these so, It's time to think :scratch2:
