Here's mine.I use Stax e-stats.
Push-Pull 6V6's
The only general coverage reciever own that has a turntable plug in.If you do any recording, you need good headphones. If you want pleasant audio from those phones, you need a good stand-alone preamp. Tubes or solid-state.One day :
1 - I'll buy a new nice headphone (to complement my good old Sennheiser HD-280).
2 - I'll build or buy a nice headphone amplifier (instead of unsing the headphone output of my amps/preamps/CDplayers and the like).
3 - I'll have to return to headphone listening, that I stopped at least 10 years ago (for a near-field listening).
I will have to study that proposal seriously... One day !

A single-ended 6V6GTY (sort of like your mono amps) would be what I would look to do if I were to DIY.I will have to study that proposal seriously... One day !

12AY7/6072 or 12AT7/6201 input, maybe a second stage for tone controls and better gain for inefficient headphones. Easy-to-find tubes that are not fussy. Last a long time.
Good tubular tones!![]()
Schiit Vali 2 headphone amp…Schiit Loki tone control…Schiit Modi DAC … OG MODEL… StraightWire cables…But then you would use an output transformer, then ? I was more akeen to design an OTL / direct coupled output amp, given the low power required and relatively high Z involved, but I may be wrong...
@Mr Boochie : would you suggest something - I mean : if non-OTL ? I must confess that I never ventured in the headphone amp world...
@red 111 : what's that Schitt gear you display ?
