Shure M95HE - Needs Stylus

Any suggestions on which stylus to get for this? I don't think it's worth getting the Jico stylus due to the price. Will a generic 0.2 x 0.7 elliptical suffice?

IMO the JICO HE is cheap and worth the money. My M95EDM with JICO HE beats M97xe, AT13ea, only Ortofon x3MC beats Jico.

Which one are you referring to ?

ebay for ~$20 shipped.

At $58 for the Jico, why wouldn't I buy a new M97xe from J&R for $60 shipped?

I guess I'm answering my own question. I'm just wondering if the cheapo stylus for the M95 is even worth it at this point.

I don't like the M97Xe at all compared to the M95EDM w/Jico HE. I am thinking about upgrading the M97Xe with a Jico.

20$ from ebay? which manufacturer? Original or cheap aftermarket?
It'll be a DOWNgrade anyway, it may be down to were it don't go further :)

If your thinking along the lines of a new cartridge vs a new stylus forget the M97XE and for 10 dollars more get a Nagaoka MP11 it will kick that Shure around the block all day long.

There are those who like the M97xE and those who don't but I think it's safe to say they all would agree that the M95HE is a better cartridge. You could get a new hecho en Mexico M97xE or a replacement stylus from Jico and spend 60 bucks either way but the question is which option ends up giving you the best sounding cartridge for the money.

Great advice guys. Thanks. I'm ordering the Jico for the M95HE. I think Santa's gonna bring me a M97XE for x-mas. Next time I get the bug, or bulid a new system, I'll check out the Nagaoka. Or maybe get the Jico for the 97. Either way, I'm obviously a sick man. :-)
