The TT base is an *impressive* piece, ... a decent table-saw and mitre saw and two pieces of wood, cut and assemble in an hour, then hand-sand the corners and edges to break the corners and hide any mismatch, stain and finish, ... a good half-day's work with common building-center materials. I believe I saw better workmanship in our wood shop in high-school.
Not to completely dis their work, but really guys? For $8,500 you would expect much better workmanship and materials, look at what some of our members here do to a "lowly" Pioneer table from time to time, ... now some of those are impressive.
