What ever I have handy that sounds good.AT's,ADC's, mostly.

Moved out a 1219 this morning, had a Grado Black on it. Sounded very nice.

Well, I'm getting there on mine.

I recleaned everything really well (including the connector pins on the headshell/tonearm, which I had not cleaned before) and now I have music with a little static instead of static with a little music.

I'm going to put a new cartridge on it this weekend (assuming the record store in Athens sells them, which I think they do) and see if that cures the remaining static. If not, I guess the only thing left is the interconnects.

BTW, John's pics reminded me of something else. The rubber feet on mine are completely shot. Any suggestions for replacing them?

Good that you are getting close to finishing. Good question about the feet. May try Home Depot for something similar? I not too sure.

Why not keep good carts for yourself and put on a new AT3600? When I was selling turntables I purchased them in bulk from matelectronics.com. You can purchase as few as three at a time and with S&H it averaged out to $13 a piece--less if you buy more. You're not doing the buyer any favors by including a cart with a used stylus--in fact, you're lowering the tt's value because they'll have to buy a new stylus for that cart or a whole new cart. Most want to be able to start listening right away. Later, if they get more serious they'll upgrade.

Thanks for the info, I do replace the stylus with a new one on each TT. I will check on the AT3600's. I just put a ADC on this SL-23,RK-8 Stylus. Sounds good , just have to finalize the setup angles. The TT's are Ready to play once assembled, platter and counter weight, tracking force. I usually send a manual if they need it. It's all in the communications with the buyer. I ask if they need help and offer it at any time they write.

I do get some buyers who know nothing about TT's and some that do. It's a mixed bag.

Eureka! New cartridge/stylus killed the remaining static. :yes: I also thought I had a wobble in the platter, but I pulled it off and reseated it and that seems to have cured that. Now to get some new feet and build a cabinet for my "new" Frankensystem I've built.

After about a 15-year hiatus, Big Nate is listening to vinyl again. And I'm already wondering why I ever left.
