SL-D2 technics turntable

I have a Technics SL D2 my brother bought me the SL d3 cartridge by accident will this still work on my turntable?

They're the same table but the d3 is fully automatic where the d2 is only auto return..

What cartridge did he buy and what makes you think it's for a SL-D3?

If he bought what was originally used, that would be a Shure 95ED, no?

Both of those tables are medium mass, s-shaped, tone arm with sme style headshell connection and standard 1/2 inch cartridges.
The vast majority of available cartridges will work just fine if you set it up properly.

The M95ED is a nice cartridge.

I’m listening to the p-mount variation as I write this. DT15P with an N97-LT Stylus.
