Andy was special and well loved.. We take comfort in knowing that now , he is with all of the other great singers that have left us. It's like the old song says,,
''If there's a rock n roll heaven, then you you know they've got a hell of a band'!
C-Ya Soon ,Andy... We'll all be listening to your music, for years to come ..
Interesting bit of trivia I heard this morning - although he is best known for his rendition of "Moon River", it was never released as a single, so it never made the "charts" in it's own.
I first saw Andy Williams in 1959 or 60 when he was with Bob Hope in GTMO Cuba doing the Christmas show for the GIs'. He was always in the background while some of the "stars" were being stars and showing there asses. Hope became ill and could not perform for one of the shows so Andy took over and showed the leadership and talent he would have later in life. Andy's Branson shows were great for us "mature" folks. May he RIP.
Way before my time, but I always liked his Moon River rendition. Grew up hearing him as a kid via my parents. My dad is a bit dismayed. He has a "Moon River" theater here in MO (Branson) where I think my grandma saw him way back in the 90's (she died in the 2000's at age 84 as well).
