So, I . . . Ummm . . . Bought a Patrician

In light of everything it's almost not worth mentioning, but I also picked up three JBL L100 Century speakers on Thursday. It's been a pretty good week.

:bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:

What's the backstory?

They are all built by the same person, whom I mentioned earlier in the thread. After buying the first one and hearing that there may be another, I tracked down the family. I met up with one of his daughters and went to the cabin her father designed and built as a retreat. The other speakers were all there. The Regency cabinets have a mixture of EV, Altec, and University drivers. The large mystery box speaker has a Lafayette tweet, a University mid horn, and an unidentified woofer. I didn't look closely at the Altec, so I don't know much about it. I brought home the Regencies and the mystery box and a bunch of records and will be returning in the next couple of weeks for the Patrician and the Altec.

My mind is goobered. Amazing & congrats.
If you could list them in this thread I'd really appreciate it. I think you have the heaviest speakers by far. How tall are those Patricians?

I'll try to post them in that thread. The Patrician IV is 5'4". I'm not sure about the 700, but it's not as tall as the IV.

If this is true, you will soon be stacking one on top of the other.

Told you to buy a bigger house!

Well, he did have the two Regency cabinets stacked in one corner of a room and the Patrician in the other.

And now I do need a bigger house. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with all of these, but I knew I had to have them.

I don't know what to say. I'm just so glad these were found by someone who sees them for what they are and not firewood. That patrician cabinet is a work of art.

Thanks for taking the time to share the story of how you came to acquire this incredible mother lode. I loved the Regency cabinet in knotty pine. A perfect choice to blend into the decor of a cabin hideaway!

It's not quite over yet. I'm going to get the 700 and the Altec tomorrow. I'll be able to get some more pictures, information, and impressions when I get them home. I'll update the thread with pictures of all drivers and cabinets as soon as I get a chance.
