Sodey-pop.

Well, I've never been a huge fan of soda, but drink it once in awhile. Actually, I prefer the sport drinks, like Gatorade, without the fizz, thank you very much. I had to hit the store for coffee, & wasn't really after anything else, & somehow I ended up grabbing 4 2-liter bottles of pop, which worked out pretty good, since it was on sale for 4 for $3. I got 2 bottles of Punch, because it's very much like Hawaiian Punch, & 2 bottles of cream soda, because it tastes just like cream soda. ;) The cream soda's not bad at all, but you definitely need to watch out for the fizz. :nutz: :D

I rarely will drink a Dr. Pepper, root beer or cream soda. I drink mostly iced tea during the day while enjoying coffee during the mornings and evenings.

My wife drinks Coke exclusively in 20oz bottles.

Used to drink a lot of Mountain Dew. Then I got diabetes. Now I will (rarely) have a Diet Coke. Generally I stick to sugar-free tropical punch drink mix though. It takes awhile to not want soda, but once you walk away, you wonder why you ever drank the stuff. It's actually fairly nasty.

Drink mostly ice tea in our household. Have an occasional soda once in a while. I like Dr. Pepper hot, something may dad turned me onto.

When I lived in St.Louis all I drank was "soda" . When I lived in Kansas City all I drank was "pop". Now that I am in Northern Arizona I am drinking "soda" again.:D

Ha, I was thinking about an older guy in the neighborhood, in Ohio, who called it sodey-pop. Everyone else there & in PA called it pop, but him, no idea where he got that from. But he was actually pretty cool, & sold us kids firecrackers & stuff, so it must be the cool thing to say. :D ;)

I mostly drink seltzer nowadays, but when Passover rolls around I stock up on Kosher for Passover Coke made with SUGAR not HFCS.

Myself, I'm a Coke man. I'll also enjoy root beer and orange soda.

When I lived in Canada in the 80's, one time I went into a market and asked where the soda was. The clerk looked at me like I was from Mars, and said, "You mean pop?" I said yeah, I guess. He took me to the aisle where all the bottles were. I picked one up and showed it to him and said, "It says 'soda' right on the bottle". He said, "Right. Pop. No one calls it soda. You from the States?"

Sheesh.

I like root beer and sometimes Dr. Pepper sometimes. Dr. Pepper I drink when I get sleepy and I'm traveling which helps me keep awake. I used to drink Orange Crush and Dr. Pepper a lot when they served it in glass bottles.

I occasionally buy pop in glass bottles, only for New Years Eve or Christmas since it's so expensive.

I tend to drink a lot of Mountain Dew. Pretty sure I'm actually addicted to it, which is slightly annoying.

I love trying all kinds of pop/soda. Especially regional brands that aren't available everywhere. One of my favorite finds is Ale8 1, from Kentucky. I always stop and pick up a few when I'm driving through. It's a ginger ale, but with a slightly citrus flavor.

Being from Michigan, of course I'm a fan of Vernor's ginger ale. Mild ginger flavor, somewhere between Red Rock (so much ginger it burned my throat) and Schweppes, but way more carbonated. In fact, drinking from a glass is kind of difficult as the bubbles go up your nose making you cough.

Big root beer fan too. There seems to be a resurgence going on of obscure brands lately. Which is awesome by me. Boylan, Virgil's and Weinhard's are all quite good.

It's 'pop' in Michigan too. Living in Atlanta for a few years, I had to start calling it soda to avoid the glares of locals.

As a kid I really liked the Barq's flavors. I miss reaching into the large steel ice chest at the local mom and pop store through the frigid ice and water to grab a bottle on a hot summer day. I still believe soda tastes better out of a glass bottle than a can or plastic bottle.

I have to agree with you Jesse. I can't drink soda or beer out of a can, have to put it in a glass 1st!
Anyone here like Birch Beer? I think it tastes even better than Root Beer. JMO mind you.

I'll generally grab a Cream Soda before anything else.
IBC and Stewart seem to be the best in my area?

I stick to the sucralose-sweetened ones. Too diabetic for sugar/HFCS and I have too much of a medical background to ever want to ingest aspartame.

My name is SA-708, and I am powerless over my addiction to Diet Mtn Dew. I've cut back to two 24 oz bottles per work day, plus whatever diet soda I drink at meals. Preferred poison at home has become Diet Drop Red (Kroger store brand version of Mtn Dew Code Red) in 2 liter bottles. I can't function without the caffine, and withdrawal ain't pretty.

Incidentally, Mountain Dew was first developed and bottled in East Tennessee by a local company, before the local company sold the name and formula to Pepsi. I think the Mountain Dew Throwback is using some of the original hillbilly/moonshine image. Also, there are hollers 'round here where they still call Coca-Cola "dope", from back to the days when it contained cocaine.

Just curious why HFCS isn't Kosher, outside of it being the invention of Satan.

Corn products, along with legumes & rice, are considered kitniyot--foods that are similar enough to chametz grains that they are prohibited. Only Ashkenazic Jews (Eastern European descent) avoid kitniyot. Sephardic Jews are free to consume it.
In plain english, it expands when cooked, so it's on the no-no list

I forgot to mention the one HFCS pop I WILL drink when I can get it...Moxie.

Ha, I remember the old TV commercials for Mountain Dew, from the 60s. The hillbillie would drink some, & act more like he'd had some moonshine, than sodey-pop. "Ya-hoo, Mountain Dew!" :D FYI, there's no insult meant with the term hillbillie, that's a friendly word, for me. I haven't had any Vernor's or Birch Beer in a LONG time, but like both of those. :thmbsp:
