Sodey-pop.

Used to drink a lot of Mountain Dew. Then I got diabetes. Now I will (rarely) have a Diet Coke. Generally I stick to sugar-free tropical punch drink mix though. It takes awhile to not want soda, but once you walk away, you wonder why you ever drank the stuff. It's actually fairly nasty.

A good regular Coke (in a glass bottle only!) is far from nasty. I rarely drink them to avoid weight gain.

About once a month, we make a gallon of ice tea. Other than that, gin with tonic water is the only thing I drink regularly.

Vacuum tubes are where it's at!

I rarely drink soda - mainly I drink flavored sparkling water (seltzer). However, every now and then I go over to Yacht Club sodas which is an old timey soda manufacturer that has been in Rhode Island since 1915. At the factory, you can make up a mix case of any of their flavors (cherry, black cherry, sasparilla, birch beer, cream, strawberry, lemon, lemon-lime, cola, rootbeer, pineapple, etc etc.) My Dad used to buy me a case as a treat at Christmas, so it is a nice nostalgic thing for me sometimes.

I recently saw this video about the guy in LA who owns Galco Soda Pop Stop, a grocery store that was owned by his father that he turned into a soda store, and he sources all different kinds of soda from all over the world - avoiding corn syrup at all costs! Really good video, check it out here:

I rarely drink pop (yes, I am from Michigan... it's what we call it here!:D) but do have a Mt. Dew once in a while or a Coke, usually in a 12 oz can. I do like trying the 100% sugar versions of Pepsi, Coke and Mt. Dew)

Of course, I have a fondness for regional brands like Vernor's but that isn't quite as regional now after being bought out by 7UP. I also have a weakness for Faygo which I grew up with. I was at my local store, and they now have a six pack of Faygo 12 oz. bottles of 100% sugar versions of orange and red pop along with another that escapes me. The orange came home with me. A bottle is going to be drunk (drank?) after dinner as dessert!

Anybody in this area remember Towne Club pop or the Pop Store where you could pick and choose your own bottles? I grew up with those - seems like those regional brands have largely disappeared, but I found Towne Club this past summer in the same store I shopped today.

I guess I'm more sophisticated than most.I love soda, and stopped drinking it entirely for years, because I had weird headaches from HFCS.I drink lots of soda again, but except for the occasional microbrewed stuff,I don;t touch anything made in the US.My favorite sodas are these from Russia

Yes they still make real ginger ale that burns your mouth, like ginger ale should.Tried some high priced microbrewed stuff from England,it's twice the price and not any better.

These from Mexico are favorites.

This guarana soda from Brazil may be an acquired taste.

There's a big wide wonderful world of sodas out there.

That Guarana stuff is like cocaine in a bottle. It did help me through my nicotine fits when I quit smoking.

Dr. Brown's Black Cherry, rarely found here in the Midwest, but I buy a load when I find it. :thmbsp:

I grew up in Michigan but left in '72. I still remember Towne Club and Vernor's. Haven't heard the name Towne Club for years. And Faygo Red Pop was big up there, but I never drank it.
