Sony STR-V3 & STR-V4

I do not follow the V sereies receivers but in reading comments they seem to be well liked, especially the totl V7.

I have also read good comments about all the V series. I found one of the smaller ones for a friend and he was quite impressed. Those seem to be nice deals. However if you are looking for one from that series be aware there was a big step up with the V5/6/7 which all share the same chassis, very similar 5 gang tuners and nice big torroidial transformers. I had a V5 and it was a 40+ lb winner. I would hold out for one of the big ones, the 85 w/ch V5 being the most common and affordable.

I was happy to find a V 4 at a SA about a month ago.

Back in the day I don't recall even seeing Sony receivers in the stores.

Agreed...I have a V5 and all I can say was "wow". It has so much reserve power and the transformer the size of a small bowling ball...just powerful sound. Drove my Bose 901 Series II with authority.
