Sony TC-630 reel to reel VU meter bulbs

Hi - am looking for replacement axial VU meter bulbs for a Sony TC-630. They appear to be 2 volt bulbs, and are fed from a 2 volt winding on the power transformer. I don't know the mA rating of them.

Any suggestions would be great.

I cannot "specifically" answer your question, since I have bought bulbs from dozens of different sources over the years (even including auto parts stores), but I'm sure someone will chime in with a recommendation for that specific bulb. If not--post over at TapeHeads and someone may be able to help out.

The real reason I posted is that because you already know you have a 2V power feed, you may just want to go LED. You are already in a very comfortable voltage range for LEDs, they last virtually forever, don't create heat, and are available in pretty much every "color temperature" known to man. Just throwing that out there as an alternative to hunting down replacement incandescent bulbs.

Old thread, but I thought I'd post this for the search engines. I was working on a sad little Sony TC-252D and needed to replace the 2V 0.1A meter light. Not wanting to spend any money in this thing, I discovered that incandescent miniature Christmas lights are 2.5V and about 130~140 mA. The long shape can be a bit difficult to work with, but if you can fit it, it works well. I soldered on some leads and added heat shrink tubing to keep everything in place then hot glued it under the meter.
