SOTA Pyxi has arrived

How does this new Phono amp compare to the old SOTA head amp. I have one of those it, the old round body with the D Cell batteries. If I recall it is a head amp and probably doesn't have any RIIA eq in it. I have not been using mine for a while.

Totally different beast. MC/MM with very accurate RIAA deemphasis and extremely low distortion. Switchable input loads. AC supply from a wall wart.
Post #19 in this thread has the specs.

I listened last night for 4 hours and was impressed by what I heard. I’m goi g to have a couple more of these sessions before making any final judgement regarding differences between it and my 4100’s phono stage.
Thanks for sharing.

Another 4 hour listening session in the books, and… This ultra budget phono preamp really impresses me! I just don’t remember my MA4100s phono section sounding this good.
The mids and low end are really amazing sounding now. Overall, a wonderful and balanced sound comes from this SOTA.
For $300, I just can’t imagine another competitive unit stacking up.
HIGHLY recommended.

If you didn't know, SOTA stands for State Of The Art!

@wyn palmer have you considered sending a unit to Audio Science Review? I'm certain Amir would love to take look at it. Specs say it should make one of the best reviews, which would be great publicity for you all and help get the word out on no-nonsense, performant phono preamplifiers.
