As we discussed in the thread for the meet-up held this past September, the winter meet-up will be on January 18 in Santa Ana near the 5. This should make for a central location that's easy to get to. Details will follow; I'll let those members who are bringing music and equipment discuss their contributions, and I'll add mine later.
What we have planned, so far, is a listening session with couple or so speaker and amp combinations with consistent sources and preamp to keep things easy and comparable. Having heard a couple of these setups in the space we'll be using, I can honestly say that I'm confident that those present will be impressed!

Sweet. I’ll be home in a few days. I should have plenty of time to brainstorm and help out getting ready David.

Here is what I have in my arsenal to contribute based on people that are participating would want me to bring.

Fisher SA-100 (maybe a Fisher 400-CX2 if I can grab it before our meet up)
ADS L1590 WITH an ADS C2000 for bi-amping
Altec 604B Hollywood's

I can also bring my Scott LK-72 (Choc face) that was at our last meet up if anyone wants.

I'll be providing the following:
  • Mac C-31 preamp
  • Dual 1219 / Shure M97xE
  • SVS SB-12NSD sub
  • Sony DVP-NS900V for SACD's, unless anybody has one they'd rather use
Just for fun, I'll include the speaker / amp setup I'm currently using:
ADS M12 / Dynaco ST-70 / Parasound HCA-1000A / dbx DriveRack in a bi-amp configuration (with the SVS sub)
It'd be fun to compare the M12's to some L1290's, too, if anybody has some they'd like to include.

What was the agenda for this meeting?

I just have one request... I need a clearly drawn yellow line for me not to cross as I will be drinking.

Cary on...

We'll tape off a chair for you for sure! I'll make sure to hang on to the remote, too... I think I misplaced it a few times a couple weeks ago!

If there's interest, I could possibly bring a pair of DQ-10s; refoamed, but not yet recapped.

That would be fun. Do they have any special requirements or needs... power, positioning, etc? I just want to make sure to have things as ready to go as possible ahead of time.

Bring the caps and we'll recap them there. Hey, we can even do a "before and after"!:D
I'll break out the iron and solder! Maybe we can work on one of my Pioneer tube receivers, too! LOL Just kidding! It's far more intimidating in person when you can see that there are three dimensions to this thing - there are layers of caps that look like they have to be replaced in some order!

Speaking of tubes, tube testers would be fun, too. It'd be good to actually use one.
