We take the easy route and wait until I host the next one and just use my DQ-10's which are already set up, have 5 year old rebuilt x-overs using Regnar kits, are powered by beastly Emotiva XPA-1L monoblocks (250w @ 8 ohms, 500w @ 4 ohms) and are paired with either a DQ-1W sub or a NHT SubOne. DQ-10's need careful placement to get them to really give up their imaging magic. Especially important is getting at least 2-3 feet behind them. DQ-10's are never going to take you back to those great JBL, Polk, Klipsch, Tannoy, etc. rock&roll box speakers of our kegger party days. Detail and imaging are where they shine and that takes placement. It's up to David and the group of course.
Currently out of rotation and available for me to bring are:
B&O Beovox M70 speakers (polite, very detailed euro sound)
Thorens TD-125 ll turntable with Grace G-707 arm and Grace F9e cartridge

Tim and I have some sources and that are known to sound good on the equipment we've listed in the space we'll be using. @elcoholic will also be bringing some records and I believe SACD's. We can do DVD-A's as well, if anybody wants to bring them. You've indicated you're willing to bring some speakers. Knowing the amps and other equipment we'll have setup, I think it'd be best for you to determine what will showcase your speakers the best. We'll have those two tube amps and at least the same or more SS amps. You're welcome to use my subwoofer with them too, if you like. If the equipment we'll have on hand isn't up to par, feel free to bring what will make them sound their best! If others think there's a better way to go about this, please bring it up.
For me, the goal is to enjoy good music on some good equipment that's not particularly common or likely well-known to the other attendees. I'm trying to keep it relatively easy to change equipment between listening, which is why I'd like to keep a single preamp with three outputs to multiple amps. Limiting sources, control, and amps will certainly speed up changes.
I'd think after the main portion some mix and match / free-form, etc would be fun. For this part, I'll have my partially-restored-but-great-sounding-and-looking Marantz 1060 and will initially pair it with a pair of ADS L520's just because I think it's a perfect example of a good-sounding bit of very economical vintage equipment that's relatively easy to obtain. Who knows, maybe quality sound on the cheap will be the theme of a future gathering!

I've never heard any B&O speakers, so I'm good with that. As co-host, I think you should bring them!

The 1060 could be a nice match with the Chartwells if the room is smallish.
If there is the demand, I am considering assembling an A/B (no X) box for speakers, and possibly sources, that would include line level matching, that we could use for future assemblies. (Couldn't be ready this month.) This would switch using a remote key fob. So, is there interest?
Are there any requests (or needs) for specialty things (e.g., lights to indicate what's playing at that moment)? For example, if switching between two tube amps, does the unused amp need to see a load such as a bigazz 8-ohm resistor? Will the milliseconds when the relay flips and nothing is connected be OK on these vintage pieces? Nothing seems to hurt my Yamaha and I don't typically deal in tubes, so make any peculiarities known.

The main room is medium-large, but we’ll have a smaller dining room and front foyer. Sounds fun!

I think that’s a good idea. I don’t suppose it’d matter if the switcher used an 8 ohm resistor even if on 16 ohm outputs if the input was muted, or would it? Maybe just use a 16 dummy load, but I’m not too experienced in tubes... yet! SS equipment, especially that with speaker on/off, would be fine, I’d think. It might be nice to have indicator lights for amp and speakers that could be defeated for blindish demos.
