Speaker Rattle

I get the impression you are not really up for refoaming.

I hate to bring this up but if it's not a loose screw or a rotten surround, it could be magnet shift (possible to fix but even harder than the other two!).
 
Everyone seems to have jumped to the conclusion that these need re-foaming but the OP hasn't looked at them yet - that would be the first step.
According to this website: http://www.humanspeakers.com/e/epi100.htm some versions had rubber surrounds, not foam. Unfortunately, some versions had grilles which weren't easily removable.
It's possible that the rattle is due to something else but a visual inspection of the cones/surrounds is definitely needed.

Def. "no" to re-foaming, and clueless abt. magnet shift.
