Speaker recommendation

Hey all, I have an old Sansui 210 I'm working on. Came across a set of JBL E-20 Northridge bookshelf speakers. Would that be a good combo for this thing? Thanks in advance.

This is a low powered receiver (10 wpc). The JBLs are not a high sensitivity speaker - 86 db/watt. This is not unusual for bookshelf speakers because you can't squeeze deep bass response AND high sensitivity into a small cabinet - you can only have two at once. That said, 86 is on the low end of low - there are few speakers lower than this and they range up to 100+ db, which is over 100 times louder with the same watt of power. If you plan to listen at higher volumes you may want to look for something more sensitive - say, 90+ db sensitivity. This may get you into larger speakers though.

Best way to find out though is to listen to them with your receiver.

When shopping for speakers you can find this data by googling make, model plus "specifications".

A bad match for the reasons stated above. The 210 has a meager 10 wpc so you need something around 90db sensitive to get some decent volume from them.

If you are looking for bookshelf speakers, search the forum for 'bookshelf' or 'small speakers' and you'll find some discussions and recommendations.

Well, i'm in the kansas city area. This is in fact meant to be my little man cave stereo where I generally hide from his and wife around 5am or midnight to tinker with guns, ham radio, or my new found fetish: stereos that don't work. This 210 is actually in the mail from ebay and he claims that it has dim light that comes on and nothing else. My other project is a pioneer sx1010 that's essentially in the same boat. Does that change anything knowing it will pretty much be a low volume rig? Are they decent speakers generally speaking? I'll definitely pass them up if it's just a down right mismatch. Thanks a bunch for all the quick advice.
