So what did you wind up with? I would have recommended the Klipsch RP-600M bookshelves, very high efficiency and super sound!

Well... that was 5 or so years ago, but kind of a lifetime for me in terms of my hi-fi evolution. Before that, it had been many years since I picked up any new gear. Right nw, I have a system with three differnt sets of speakers, in three different rooms. IN my main room, I ended up with the Jamo C103 speakers that I have now, which are by far my favorite of any speaker that I've had in my house. Before that were the poorly modded out Mirages that I had (with no non-stock woofers and tweeters), the Elacs and the the Jamos, but with a set of ADS570 speakers that I tried for a while but sold because I didn't like them as much as the Jamos. In my bedroom office I had very old KJH speakers to start with, then Whafedale Diamond 10.1s (which I wish I still had, for the kitchen), Quad 12Ls and then most recently Klisch rm600 mkII. The kitchen speakers are a new addition and for that I have NHT SuperZero speakers, which are OK, but I'm thinking of upgrading to something bigger and more powerful sounding (though they have to work well pretty close to a wall, in that spot).
It's been quite an evolution, and I did eventually get those Klipsch speakers, but not for that main room and then only recently. I find them OK, but not as much of a favorite as some others. They sounded really bass-shy to me until I got a small subwoofer than I use with them, but now with that I notice that they are a bit thin in the midrange, though certainly tolerably enough, particularly in the room that I have them in, where I don't really tend to listen as critically as in my main room. They do seem to have a really lively, dynamic quality, which is I suppose why people like them so much and I don't notice any "shouty" weirdness about the way that the horn tweeters reproduce the treble...
