question about coaxial/triaxial drivers: does the large diaphragm of the woofer moving back and forth, and moving a lot of air, cause the tweeter/midrange diaphragm to move back and forth along with it? Wouldn't that potentially create some distortion as the tweeter diaphragm is reproducing the high frequencies while also wobbling back and forth at whatever bass frequencies are being reproduced at the same time?

Not if the coaxial tweeter has a sealed back. Usually, sealed-back tweeters have so high of a resonant frequency, that bass energy just can't drive them. It's so far out of their passband, that there's no real movement at low frequencies, due to the effective "stiffness" of the tweeter suspension combined with the very stiff 'air spring" inside the tiny tweeter enclosure.

Same reason why tweeters don't usually have those problems, in any speaker.

They are open back. I had no intention of sealing them up, especially since the drivers are held in with nuts & bolts.

They're not the best sounding full-range drivers I've ever heard (since they could use some tweeters for added treble extension), but for peerless drivers they are very good - even in free air. Excellent clear mids and surprisingly punchy & deep bass. Treble is rolled off by ~8-9Khz.

I still haven't hooked them up in the cardboard enclosures for a test yet though, maybe sometime this fall.

So does the cab with the sub in it wired to the left channel,..... woofer to the right ?
Vice-versa?
Or sub to the right channel wired out of phase to keep the system "balanced" .

I had to read you reply several times before I got it. Those Cerwin Victims weren't being sold as a pair, they are from two separate listings. Those Titan woofers, Parts Express was selling them dirt cheap, and they came in all kind of groovy flavours. Green metal flake cone, yellow surrounds, red surrounds, blue cones with yellow surrounds. The only thing that stopped me adding a pair onto one of my orders was the huge box sizes they needed, even for a sealed box.
 
I think I read somewhere years ago those were actually suitable for o.b. applications ???
Heck, some of closeout woofers even had speckled foam gaskets.....with all the colors of the rainbow IIRC.
