Speakers you will NEVER sell.

I scroed a pair of regular Sevens expecting to flip them to add to my "ESL 57 fixing fund".
Then I listened to them.
Staying.

That's funny. Same thing happened with my Pinnacle PN-8+ . I got them cheap enough that I could have made a few bucks, but they found a home...for now anyway.

I would be hard pressed to part with my Pinnacle PN-8+ as well. What a great sounding speaker for not much $$. Bought mine used for $75 and have been playing them non-stop ever since.

I need to make stands some day. Right now they're on top of my MC-1000s. Not optimal placement but I'll be moving next weekend. Then I'll set them up better.

What a great underrated speaker! I found mine at a thrift a couple of years back for around $20 if I recall. I left them when I first saw them because they were dirty and looked tired and a little unimpressive. I changed my mind a few hours later and went back and got them. They cleaned up great and the sound blew me away. High performance Vifa components high efficiency and bass down to a gut wrenching 30hz! They call them "Giant Killers" for a reason. Mine aren't going anywhere. If they go out of rotation they are getting wrapped up and protected till their next performance.

I've repurposed my Nautilus 805's to my office. Bought into the Parasound New Classic series for amplification with a REL 10" sub and this is my comfy work room..I hope these speakers outlive me cause I love them.

Welcome.

I believe there’s a JBL/Lansing forum in the Manufacturer's forum. You’d do well to start there. Much knowledge.

At this point my JBL's are not really sellable (not that I would want to anyway). I would have to re-integrate the old passive crossover back into the system as it has been bypassed by an electronic active crossover driven by 3 amplifiers, and balanced by DSP. I'm afraid anyone I sold them to wouldn't understand what is going on under the hood if I didn't.

I'll never sell these, because they're not mine and unless I hit the lottery, I'll never be able to afford them :rflmao:

I have no intentions of selling the set of B&W DM110i speakers I recently bought, I like them quite a lot. Right now they're doing duty as HT speakers. They're powered by a Keiga Model KG-3100 plate amplifier as is the one off Karns subwoofer, an Extreme Energy 12".

The subwoofer is a project that Raymond Karns (Karns Electronics) started and never quite finished it before it was handed down to his son. His son is Bob Karns who owned a hifi car stereo store for years. I Installed Mr. Karns pool table and whilst installing the pool table I began noticing some clues around the house that he might be of Karns Speakers lineage, turns out he was.

Later on he called me back to move the pool table and I saw this large burl cabinet in his dinning room, either he noticed me looking at it, or, I might have asked him about it, I don't exactly remember. Anyway, to make a long story a bit longer, yet comfortably short of full length...

He was teaching an electronics class and used speakers, of course, to demonstrate. As I had previously mentioned to him that my dad had talked to his dad about building cabinets years ago, he offered me the job of making some cabinets for him to use in the classroom.

He also had me build a box inside of the Burl cabinet to accommodate the 12" Extreme Energy driver. There's openings on the sides for additional speakers at the top as well as rear facing speakers. The midrange drivers Bob wanted to use are two inches smaller than the six inch holes that were already there so he also had me make a couple rings to fill the gap then install the midrange drivers and the tweeters.

One day he came over and had in the back of his car, the subwoofer, the schematic for the xover's which hadn't been built yet, and two satellite speakers Raymond originally crafted to be used with the subwoofer, he asked me if I wanted them. I said yes please!

I still haven't built the xover's as last time I priced the parts the project was a bit pricey and I keep finding other ways to spend money. I need to get this done though, I'm not getting any younger and this is a project that deserves to be finished, Bob also gave me the Keiga amplifier. I said thank you!

I'll never sell the Karns system either!

Okay, that's pretty much the whole story

Here's the rear facing speakers for the back of the subwoofer cabinet. These midrange crossovers are ones I had made for another system years ago. The tan inserts around the midrange drivers are the pieces I made to convert from six inch to four inch. I rough cut them and then finished them on my lathe to make sure they were perfectly round. I also tapered the outside edges ever so slightly so they would fit very snugly

Never say never! All that remains is my Bozak MB80 from my original post. They serve me very well. I would add (ha!), the Bryston Mini T are most likely going to stay.

Well. I must say boys and girls, I just snagged a two year old pair of JBL L100’s for $2500.00, with stands. I have three pair of 4311b’s, one pair I have had since 1978 the others I purchased along the way. In my humble opinion, I just hit the Holy Grail! These will be paired with a newly restored Marantz 2270.

Love,
Rick

How about wish I never sold....and want to find again. RTR 300D...would take 600D if found. Also RTR HPR-12 Magnum.

Regrets, regrets, regrets!!!!

Probably won't ever sell my Kef LS50s. Not because they are particularly good or anything. Mainly because they are small and easy to move around; they have lasted through five moves. Plus, they are kind of a classic and really not worth enough to bother selling. They do spend most of their days now in the closet but are a good reference to have and pull out every now and then.

Just stumbled onto this 16-year thread as I was looking at others that had info on My Speakers That I Will Never Sell...The Mirage M3si Towers! In 1992, I bought a pair of new M5si Mirage speakers, and I really loved them. I also bought great speaker cables, Tributary, 18 feet of them at ten dollars a foot, a really good move the salesman talked me into. So, I liked the M5si's so much, and because the audio store gave me a half year, full credit exchange period to trade up, that I did to the M3si pair! Of course I did! Plus, they were marked down $400.00 to $2600.00. My then Yamaha a-1020 integrated amp had enough power for the M5si, but the M3si needed more! So later in '92, I went to a different audio dealer, and purchased an Adcom GFA 555 II Amp and Adcom GFP 565 Preamp. What a difference! Truly then, the Mirage M3si's were able to put out an incredible wall of great sound with the additional power. For 31 years, I haven't had even one tiny issue with either the amp, preamp, or the Towers, just the best sound ever. Over the years, I've tweeked the positioning of the Towers in my fairly large mancave, as I learned how to make them sound even better. And just the other day, I upgraded to a great brand new Rotel cd player. The Wall Of Sound just grew even more.

I've scanned thru some of these 32 pages of threads, and have seen that there's more than a few AKers that agree with me about Mirage. For what was, and of course still is very reasonable money, the Mirage M3si speakers were, and are a tremendous value. One would have to fork out Much More Money today to equal or better them. There's a point for all of us to appreciate what we've been able to aquire, and just be happy and thankful with that, right? Would I wish to spend 5x or 10x more money to get a 5 or 10 percent better sound? I'm real good with what I have now. I'll never buy any other pair of speakers for my #1 system, they're with me forever.
