Any thoughts on what speakers to consider with a c2700 & MC152?

Nobody can answer this for you; your ears are your own. There should be plenty of hi fi shops in the greater NYC area where you can demo a variety of speakers and only then will you be assured of making the best decision.

That said, my personal choice would be a pair of Legacy Audio Signature SE. They are phenomenal.

I got a good deal on pair of XR 200's and McIntosh speakers work well with Mc amps, but the speakers I thought I MAY have liked better were the Legacy focus SE's think Infinity Kappa 9's with modern day improvements, but they are expensive.

The Focus SE is the bigger brother to the Signature SE with a bit deeper LF extension and an additional $2,000 for a pair. Either model would satisfy me forever.

A friend of mine has a 152 powering his XRT 28's and the sound is clean clear and well defined. When he auditioned the speakers they were powered by 462 among others but the MC 152 seems to do the job easily putting out over 200 watts per channel. I use MC 830 which put out at least 600 watts, with my XRT 28's, but I seldom go over 30 watts most of the time unless I am listening for thrills and chills and then I approach 300 watts across 4 ohms. I have only seen my Power Guard lamps flash once or twice with the needles pegged for brief fractions of a second playing Telarc 1812 Overture with the Canons firing. He admits he has seen brief flashes from his 152 maybe a dozen times since April of last year.

If you want to peel the paint off the walls or blow out some windows, then try a Pair of MK III or MK IV Cornwalls, There are some fairly efficient JBL's out there, too. If you are looking for a different Experience try Magnepan loudspeakers. More delicate and revealing than most. B&W are to bright for me, but they maybe your cup of tea. With the introduction of Magicos new S3 MK II you might find a deal on slight older Magico. S3. S5 or M2 or for a surprise A5. 30 watts is all you really need at a 12 to 14 ft listening distance with LP's and maybe 60 to 90 watts with high quality digital discs.

You have excellent taste.

In addition to those, I own their Studio HD bookshelves. The Studios will bring the price of admission down to around 2k. Add a Sub if needed but they sound excellent without.
