Speechless.

Yup! The real difference is that when "God Save The Queen" is played we Americans make a decision whether to rise of not. True colonials don't think you just rise.:D

It's not our national anthem.

Funnily enough, you can sing the verses of our national anthem to the Gilligan's Island theme song and the words fit the meter of the show's theme song. :scratch2:

Could it be that Australia is Gilligan's Island?

Your right, we use what we prefer. And we are fine with that. Interesting how that list of equipment in your signature is almost exclusively American... not a single British or English piece.

Regards
Mister Pig

With absolutely no regrets either. :D

Hey! The music to our national anthem came from an English drinking song. What does that tell you?:D

BTW: I know it's not your national anthem. However, you still automatically rise when it's played.:D

Why not? :beerchug:

No we don't.

I'm a rebel. Unlike most Aussies, I refuse to rise when ours is played. I regard myself as a citizen of the planet. Having said that I do barrack for our sportsmen.

Oh yeah, I am taking the piss about your spelling.

It's Time

It's time then to just enjoy the tunes. It is also okay to pick and choose what you want to read.

It goes along with declaring independence!:D

Yeah. Well we are independent up to a point, but the British Monarch can depose our elected Prime Minister. It happened in 1975. So there is plenty of remaining subservience and I'd doubt that the Brits would be eager to relinquish their hold over a nation such as ours. Too f'in valuable(to them) to cut the ties with.

Look, in the end we are the winners. They sent their convicts here and it is stunning. Meanwhile their Monarchy and their descendents live in cold, beautiful but grey and miserable Britain.

There are so many English, Scottish and Irish living out here that I get a chance to talk with lots of them in my working day, and very few of them regret leaving their homeland to live here permanently. Nearly every one I've talked to either has no interest in going back even for a visit, or they say that they can't wait to come home to Australia while they are over there at their birthplace.

Kind of says it all doesn't it?

Been there, but it'll come back again. Can only be on a board for so long before almost everything looks like a repost. On that note, wow -- I'm coming up on a decade here at AK. Sure have learned a lot. :)

It kind of blows my mind to think that I've been coming here for twelve years. I kick myself that I lurked here for over six months before I joined. Missed out on being in the first 1000.

I think that the second 1000 was reached by early 2004.

I am late 2005. Pigs learn never to show up to a party early. You need to determine if they are setting up a fire pit, and have gallons of BBQ sauce on hand. When I see that, I choose to spend my evening in the tavern or bar.

I have nothing to say, don't want to upgrade anything, don't care if my cables sound pants, don't have any questions about turn table isolation or tape hiss, don't want to discuss inner groove distortion because there isn't any, don't want to hear the difference between sand and lead shot in my speaker stands, this dac , that dac what cartridge, records sound better than CD's or do they, everything is fine.

I might be needing a new hobby.

You're screwed. The only thing left is to listen to music.

If they have big empty rotary spit, pigs need to hightail it alright.
