Bit high for Spendor. Check ebay sold, 3 were sold for +- $1,500, and one outlier at $2,100. Local sale, IMHO $1,500 tops in great condition. If you can get in for $1,300, $1,400 you can play with them and get out for little cash at the end of the day.

I live in an area where everything is more expensive then almost anywhere else, so based on your information looks like his price is about right, but yeah, hopefully I can get him to come down a bit. Like I mentioned I would be getting them delivered from about an hour away so obviously some value there as well.

I had some rogers to play with for a bit. Did not think they were $1500 nice. While good, they are other models and brands which might sound better to you.

Had a pair of 15 ohm Rogers, really nice and got them for $1300 in Palo Alto several years ago.
Easy to bottom out the woofers and never could turn them up real high. A few things they did real well but I now have KEF Reference 101's and they are worlds better in my opinion and rated for 100 watts.
They more than satisfy my small British monitor fetish. Basically the same drivers but the woofer is more robust in a larger cabinet so they make actual bass you can feel in a smaller sized room. Got them for less than half what I paid for the Rogers..
Ended up selling the Rogers for a modest profit to a young Korean gentleman who said they were going overseas. He too was probably going to make a profit on them.

I had a pair of 15 ohm Rogers for a bit and never cared for the sound myself, personally I think these are a case of hype driving up the price and performance beyond what they are actually worth but they were designed to be in a small enclosed area and if you don't have such a space you will likely be disappointed.
@sberger Look for Kef Reference 101 which sell for <600.00. They use same drivers in larger cabinet. Many say they sound better than Rodgers! You can recap using Falcon Acoustics for 75.00 Shipped
Its a similar situation Regarding AR3 vs AR11. AR 11 sound as good or better than AR3 yet sell for a fraction of the price because they arent in the Smithsonian! Rodgers are like the british version of Yamaha NS-10's!
