That's the cat bus from a great Japanese cartoon called Totoro. If you have young kids they will enjoy it. It's a heartwarming and endearing story and would be just right for sit down to watch with young grandchildren at Christmas timeStill say it looks like a cat.

Thanks. Yes, cure, but doesn't undo damage done - will prevent further though, if I'm in the lucky 95%. [First med, same cost, a few months ago, I missed the lucky 90%. Hep C, apparently from one of several surgeries back in the dark ages. One very lucky thing - my copay is zero.]
And good news!! Fuse replaced, amp singing like new, no noise or hum and as quiet as ever. Hooray!
Yeah, now it looks obvious where the fuse goes... doh!! Pulled a Homer. Thanks for helping the simple-minded, guys.
...And the follow-up. Fuse blew immediately. No tube glow. For me, that means I'm looking at an extended down-time, likely very extended. Such is life.
Back to SS.
Have you tried starting up the amp, with NO output tube installed?
Finding out If the fuse does or doesn't blow then, is helpful diagnostic information.
I'd guess there may be a bad coupling cap or a bias problem- given the failure mode of the previous tube (redplating), and that it blew the fuse with new tubes. If this is the case, it should not blow the fuse with no output tubes installed.
If it DOES blow the fuse without output tubes, it's almost got to be a power supply problem...

Gordon.
No, but he said he'd ship it back when I ship him my Fortes...
