Steely Dan 2013 Tour in USA

I'm working the 2 sold out shows @ Ravinia on Aug 1 & 2. I'm betting they use the house sound system. No one has brought in their own yet this year.

Intriguing. Can you give a description?

It's a Martin Audio/London system. You'll have to look at the pics on www.ravinia.org or facebook. I'm not a sound techie, just know what sounds good from years of working and attending shows.

Matchbox 20/Goo Goo Dolls had it roaring at 110 db for 3 sold out shows around the 4th of July.

Dukes of September (Donald Fagan, Michael McDonald, Boz Skaggs) used it last summer.

Thinking about going to the Raleigh/Durham NC show.
Funny, i heard rumblings about Fagen not touring.
This is nonsense right?

Eldest son will be seeing them @ Red Rocks next month. Can you say jealous?

Closest they're getting to me is Omaha a couple of days before RR...struggling with draining the savings account & going. The Orpheum there is a fantastic venue.

Steely Dan 2013 Tour in USA

Any Steely Dan fans here? They're on tour in USA.

I'm going Sept 20, 2013 in Bristow, VA at Jiffy Lube Amphitheatre.

Anybody else going, if so what date and where?

From the Steely Dan Newsletter (email thingee) - details about that Greasepit Live Show...

Sep 20 Bristow, VA Jiffy Lube Amph Aja - Plus Selected Hits

From the other thread back in mid-May ...

You're right next to FOH and we're just to your right and four rows behind in the next section over. In other words, we'll be forty-dollars behind you!

Sec 102 R18-19

Yeah, still hate that Venue - but it IS Steely Dan...
and since Emma hates the traffic, she sprung for Deluxe parking.
(That's a racket in itself ...!)

Amazing, that a band that played live concerts with seeming disinterest back in their heyday are still at it. I saw them in 1974 and swear they were half asleep. Their records were far more exciting than they were live. Everything changes with age. I think they have learned to appreciate what they have.

Going to the Omaha show in early August. Fan since '73 and Pretzel. Really looking forward to it. Rarely go to live concerts. Last was Randy Newman here in Des Moines a few years back...

I worked Ian Anderson this past Monday and the sound was superb. I'm hoping it'll be that way for SD on Aug 1 and 2. Looking forward to hopefully much different tunes each night as they have a 7 night run in NYC coming up.

According to an article in the latest Rolling Stone RS1188, they won't be doing Can't Buy A Thrill their 1972 debut. Per Donald Fagan, 'We made that thing before our style jelled.'

I'm fine with that.

I have a few I'd really like to hear them perform and none of them are from Can't Buy a Thrill. Many are from The Royal Scam so it would be a treat to hear that one in its entirety...though I know that won't be happening.

Just glad they're touring and I got tix.

Saw the Canandaigua show sat night from the 4th row, looked and sounded superb. The entire show a bit anti climactic but VERY well played. Walter took the Reelin riffs to another level, best Ive seen.

Looking forward to Aja at the Beacon this fall following my Robert Hunter gig in Portchester, now THATS going to be a fun weekend!!

They were great in Louisville. A little loose on Aja which I would imagine is hard to play live anyways. After that they tightened right up. Reelin in the years was a great and they did Kid Charlamaign as the ancore. All in all was a great show.

Headed to Omaha to see them tonight...will post a small review tomorrow. 40 years a Dan fan and this is the first time I've seen them live - very excited. Glad I popped for the ticket...
