AFAIC, it's one of only two good songs on "Goat's Head Soup", the other being their one-joke ode to groupies, "Star*&!%#r." "Heartbreaker" is as good as any Stones song from any of their early 70s albums. As for the song "Angie", if I never hear it again it will be too soon.

I don't know what the hell "Goat's Head Soup" was supposed to be. Maybe it was a contractual obligation album. Fortunately their follow-up, "It's Only Rock and Roll", was a major improvement.

A great Mick Taylor guitar on this one. Nice "wahka, wahka" sound and a soulful lead (just wish it lasted longer). Plus...Keith Richards plays bass on this song which adds sooooo much to the song! Love Charlie Watts' ride cymbol on this one too.

Add to the lineup...Jimmy Miller, Pascal, Rebop, Billy Preston, Bobby Keys, Jim Price, Jim Horn and Chuck Finley!

Personally, I always liked Goats Head Soup. It’s got a great mix of tunes. “Silver Train” is one of my favorites. Of course it’s gonna pale next to its immediate predecessor, the mighty Exile on Main Street, but I think it holds up well. The druggy ambience that hangs over the album like a pall suits the music well, I think.

I think the song is actually called "Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo"...at least that's what it says on my 45. I don't have the album to compare.

i think the bass sets that song up with the line right ahead of the beat. this is actually the first stone's song i ever "heard", from "made in the shade". everybody's right here, it's "doo doo doo doo doo (heartbreaker)".
