• The move to the new server is done. There are some software and database maintenance updates in process. This has us passing the hat around to help out. We appreciate any donations. Seriously, even a dollar helps. The payment page may be found here - https://www.audiokarma.org/support.html

Struck Gold at the Thrift Store!

I'm going to explain WHY the site is run the way it is run. Follow along:

1. We don't allow profit takers to hit and run here or to troll, because this is our site. We've worked hard on this place for the last 3 years, gone through hardship and heartaches, had to deal with more problems than I can ever recall (any moderator will tell you this isn't as easy of a job as it appears), and somebody else who has NOTHING invested except a bunch of posts thinks they can set the rules? If so, then do what I did and start your own audio site. Be my guest. Otherwise, soak in the atmosphere and the spirit of comraderie and brotherhood we've built here, or kiss our collective ass.

2. Why do we ask for donations? To make things here better, and to pay to keep the boat afloat. I probably have at least $3,000 tied up in here that I'll never see back, and that's fine. I won't take the donations for myself, because you guys aren't chipping in to take my family out to Six Flags, you're doing it to help AK. So that's where it goes. Also for that reason I do not handle the finances of the site. Everything is therefore done without question. Hm, take a guess where your donations go on other websites? I know of at least one site where the admin makes close to six figures from donations. Ours is a tiny tiny fraction of a fraction of that, which goes to pay for the Fest, and for demo audio gear and prizes. Who else will ship you an expensive new amp to try for free? Answer: nowhere else. Because we give a **** about the people here and want to allow you an experience like there is nowhere else on the web. To reiterate, if you don't care for that sort of thing, you can kiss my ass :)

Some of you guys might even remember that back in the fall of last year all the gear I had working was a garbage picked Randix stereo receiver because everything I had was broken. Pretty sad for who I am here, no? So you know what happened? A bunch of the guys chipped in and had my Fisher 500 totally restored by NOSvalves.

We at AK pay it forward. We are a brotherhood. And that's over 9,000 asses to kiss if you don't care for the way things are done. Better get lip balm.

“or kiss our collective ass.”

Now that’s worth a donation all by itself

Done. Thanks a bunch. And keep Grumpy off his meds- I love his straight forward attitude.

Well said, Captain. "kiss my ass"? Never mind that, someone doesn't like it, he can stick it up his gigi and scrub. (DW's favourite saying.)

...Ernie, we will never finish having these type interludes. I'll see you that thrown somebody out, and raise you a thrown out family members. Sometimes they are the hardest learners.

George, I've got you covered on the 'thrown out family members'. You are right, they can be the slowest learners. Well, almost.

I stated what is a fact - that donations are NOT a requirement and that most AK'ers have not donated. Tell me, have you?

This statement puzzles me. How could you possibly know what the rest of us have done? Is this info available to the general public? - Mark

P.S.- Yes, I have donated to AK.

Well I have donated, but here is a deal for you all. If you look in the Business, etc. for sale you will see a pretty Yamaha CR-640 in tip top shape. Send Kam or Grumpy your donation and every dollar will get you a chance at winning it. Let's say the raffle ends Sept 24th, then all the winner has to do is send me the shipping cost and it will be theirs.

Sent some $$ in, today, since some members don't think the place is worthwhile. Gotta cover for the slackers.

I haven't donated a lot but like other places on the web I've been if I see a place
I like and they have a donation deal I will do it. I donated here with my first post
as I looked the site over and liked what I saw. Been a little shy on funds lately but
when I'm back up to speed another donation or 2 will come.

I don't think just because other people do it that one should donate but it is just my
way of saying thanks I like this place. Did the same thing to a fantasy football site
that was giving me great info, Now I'm a member.
