Then pre-emptively replace them. Get at least twice as many 992's needed so you can match the diff pairs. They're cheap, and quantity buys are cheaper per piece.

Yes buy them on the tape, not in bulk, buy at least 10 for the discount.
for one they are easier to test and I have found that the ones that are side by side are very close in matching. All I do is use some lead clips and measure Vbe, using the diode test function on the DMM, select ones that measure the same. Write the numbers on the tape so you have a record and can use them next time. The odd ball ones use for places where you do not need a matched pair.

Yep. BU= Bulk Anything else is tape of a fashion. IIRC the KSA992FTA comes on a Tape.

That's correct. We tend to use Films in place of small value lytics (some say 3.3uf others 4.7uf max) in signal path. Quieter and you won't have to replace again, vs. lytics in 20-30 years. Let your great grandkids worry about it.
