Taylor Swift I just don't get it

You say you do not lie Carey and Dion, because you do not care what they are singing about. I get that. However, the reverse can be said about someone like Dylan. Yeah his music tells a good story, but, his delivery is awful. In other words, if I can;t stand to hear someone's voice, I do not care what they have to say.

I may not be here in 10 years to eat my plate of crow, or say "I told you so" but I would be very surprised if Taylor Swift will still be getting any air time 10 years from now.

And what if she does not get any airtime, what does that prove? You have already said you have turned your radio off, like so many others you know.So I don't think airplay is that great an indicator of success.

What if she goes on to do Jazz, or some other less popular genre of music, and is a success at it?

Hey, I was a grad student once, and I gotta say that, even then, fewer than one percent of the albums in my collection were blue grass or, worse, folk.

That's just my opinion on the relative merits of those two genres, but there's a whole lot more I'd throw in (but I won't). I'll just say that there's still a lot of music out there I want to have in my collection in a format so much more tangible than an MP3 file.

Sam Bush won the Frets Magazine award so many times, they quit adding his name to the contest. They knew as long as Sam was eligible, he was just about guaranteed to win. Same thing happened to Jerry Douglas, Bela Fleck, Jerry Rice, Mark O'Connor and a handful of others. He's a master picker fo' sho', and so distinctive you know it's him just as soon as the music starts.
 
It's only a matter of time until the talented Ms. Swift works with Porcupine Tree or Opeth, demonstrating her solid "prog" metal chops.

TS and Jazz?.......with her talent I'm sure she must have the ability to blow a mean instrument or two in her repertoire.

I was drafted to escort my mother to a Tom Jones concert back in the early '70s; FWIW, there was probably as much underwear flung onstage as room keys...
The only saving grace for me was the opening band - Gladys Knight & the Pips.
