Another speaker I'd love to listen to but can't because of room/space constraints :(

LOL... if you look closely at the pictures, you'll see the speakers are set between this person's TV and the Sofa... might be they have space constraints as well!!!

If you've got the space, you'll be loving these "large"!!! :music:

They don't seem too wide, but they look deep. I wouldn't do them justice in this tiny room haha

Pretty close to me too, I wonder how these would compare to my AR9's (besides lower power requirement)?

I don't have a reference for you, but IMF's and the follow on TDL's from John Wright are a delight. These obviously are a more modern layout than the IMF's, using the D'Appolito design. Appears to be KEF B200's top and bottom. If I'm right, I think he phased these so the upper unit carried more of the midrange and the lower one the bass, but they overlapped quite a bit.

The Tweet looks like a Audax Soft-dome unit but I could wrong about that.

If I were a betting man I'd say they'd give the AR9's a run for their money down low and might be a bit smoother in the upper end. Tough to tell until you snag 'em!!! :thmbsp:

The Studio line up from TDL are the ones to buy (besides the RSTL model) because they employ a true transmission line and are a cut above. The drive units are all TDL/Elac produced but they mimic the properties of their Kef/Audax originators. They're high quality, and some say they prefer them over the originals.

As for a comparison to the AR9 I would feel the bottom end is going to be superior but as for the rest of it I think that will come strictly down to preference. The IMF predecessors are known for being neutral and uncoloured, I imagine the TDL speakers follow much of the same principles and design ideologies. If you can get them I would, they are pretty rare and are definitely worth owning.

need bass driver TDL Studio 3

Looking for one good bass driver to make my Studio 3 complete. The bass drivers in my TDL Studio 3 are 222mm diameter, round with no straight edges, held in place with 6 screws.. They must be a newer model made in the early 1990's I think. Condition is close to mint and I would really like to get them going 100%. Any help is appreciated.

Try to find and photograph any markings on the back plate of the magnet/pole piece and post it. Might be the 8DC/472.
