Teac A-4010S Belt and Lubrication

Just a thought, but the Capstan motor assembly has 2 oil ports, 1 one the front and 1 on the back. There is packing inside for bearing lubrication.

It is suggested that the capstan motor be run enough to warm it up, which makes it easier for the packing to absorb the oil. It is recommended that 1/2 to 1 cc of fine machine oil be added to each oil port.

Then add a drop or 2 of oil to the base of the capstan shaft. Let it set for a while and then wipe away any remaining oil.

Hope this helps.

I did oil both ports but I did not oil the base of the capstan shaft I'll try that.

Ok I had no luck with the oiling the shaft a little.

I came accross this motor on ebay

Motor Link

Will that one fit in the 4010s?

The only difference I see is where the oil ports.

Send me your email and I'll forward the manuals in .pdf

Hi all-

I popped a cap today on my 4010S--one of the oil caps (axial) that are in the motor switch assembly behind the front plate--the markings are Suzuki 0.1UF 400WV Oil JCP-A

does anyone know where to get a replacement? I have been searching and cannot find anything. I figure I might as well replace the other three identical ones as well.

Thanks-

I could only find one on mine. I bought the little kit (syringe and instructions) from the fellow listed above and it only indicated on oil spot for the capstan motor.

I also just popped a Suzuki cap like in RobertinMN's post on my 4010 (Smoke in the house did not go over well :whip:), but it looks like the suggested Digikey replacement is no longer in stock. Is there another that would work? Mine was in the C207 position on a board above the right reel motor.
