Teac TN300 and Phono Pre-amps under 300 dollars

Any other thoughts here from anyone with the TN300?

Not sure why you not considering the Emotiva XPS-1. Highly regarded and I believe in your price range. There are numerous reviews posted here.

I considered the musical fidelity, but I could not find one to demo. I went with the schiit because I was able to find one to listen to. Thus far I am extremely happy!

Audio Vista Phono 1 mk II.

Blows away CA640, even the Hypotoad modded model. Beats a stock JD9.

Can handle mm or mc or homc by adjustable load resistors. Gives great flexibility.

Edit: I now see the OP has purchased a phono stage. So be it, and enjoy the music!

PS. For others reading this thread, the Audio Vista gets very little press here but quite as bit on Audio Circle. I think it is a giant killer priced at $299.

Thanks for your post, were I aware of it I certainly would have considered it. I went with Schiit Mani and its made a huge improvement. Sounds great and easily highly adjustable.

If you use the Teac longer with the internal preamp before switching to an external one, you'll appreciate the jump more.

The AT95E is a perfectly fine cartridge. I'm not sure of the compliance of the tonearm, but if it tracks well for you then your money is best spent elsewhere before a new cart.

I waited awhile before I made the upgrade. You are 100% right, you do definitely noticed a more definitive difference. The schiit's added gain and adjustability seems to be a great match for the at95 and the teac thus far.
