You are prolly going to end up buying a good one, sooner or later. Turntable setups make a huge difference.

Audio is all about a good signal. That starts at the source component(s). This is especially true with turntables, as the signal chain starts, and ends, with transducers. The better turntable/tonearm/cartridge combination you have, the better your chances of getting a good signal to send down the line to the speakers. The Technics is a good long-term investment.

I will say... going out on a limb , you'll probably not hear a difference between the GR/MK7 in your system

But it won't be a weak link should you decide to upgrade. Another thing to consider. And it will also be life insurance for your records long term properly set up with a suitable cartridge, and something which should serve you well for many years.

OP Update: Thought I’d come full circle and say I got the Technics 1210GR and what a turntable! The AT LP-120 seemed like a toy compared to this. Every note with my Pro-Ject Tube Phono is 3D and impactful. Especially my favorite pressings from Analogue Productions.
I do notice some shortcomings in other components that I didn’t notice before. I hear a new graininess in my mids which I suspect is a shortcoming of my Nagaoka MP-110. (I made sure to check overhang, alignment and height). I’ve ordered a Nag MP-200 to see if that does the trick, wasn’t sure if I needed the MP-500.
The Elac Debuts 2.0 b6.2’s can hold their own in this set-up. The new turntable fixed a lot of resonance and made them tighter. I still hear a little boxiness, maybe some B&W’s or Focals might be on the horizon. But the Elacs are just fine and are producing that 3D “performers in the room” kind of sound.
Don’t know how different my experience would have been with the Technics sl1200 MK7 but I’m happy with my GR.

Be interested in your opinion of the MP-200. I really like it. Boron cantilever makes a difference, in my opinion.

As soon as I get the MP-200 and give it a few spins I will circle back. I’m also auditioning a pair of Focal Aria 906 bookshelves to replace my Elac Debuts because I’m bugged by having a budget / weak link in my system chain with these new components.Be interested in your opinion of the MP-200. I really like it. Boron cantilever makes a difference, in my opinion.

What are you using for Isolation? I use 12x12 sheets of vibration absorption material under each component. This works well in a space where the speakers are near the table. They are also under the speakers.
Just for fun, have you moved your speakers away from the table while in use? You may way to try that prior to investing in another cart. You may or may not notice a difference. It’s one way of seeing if your getting feedback issues.
Did you use a digital scale to dial in your tracking? Did you use a protractor and ruler to dial in the alignment and overhang? I don’t think your cart would randomly start having harsh mids from one table to the next. I’d say dial in what you have prior to buying more. (I have closets full of gear, i’ve been down this rabbit hole).
