Those were very nice receivers, although aesthetically I liked the generation right before that one with the dial surround in black instead of silver. It set the white back lit dial off a little bit with a nice contrast, the silver blends in a bit too much.

FWIW, I like all of the above better (sonically and esthetically) than the next generation of Technics receivers (i.e., the SA-x0x family). Mrs. H had a purchased-new SA-303 when we were dating and it sounded pretty thin and lifeless against the Yamaha CA-610II amp I had. The Yamaha's still in regular use; the Technics is packed in its original box up in the attic, awaiting the Receiver Rapture, I guess.

My very first stereo was a 5370...1977 while in college. Used it for quite a while. As I remember mine was fairly bright. I always thought the Pioneers, and of course, Marantz, had a mellower, smoother sound.

I did think the 5370 was great looking. Loved that cream colored tuning guage and meters.

I have one of those :) It does sound real good too. I agree with mrh as I also have a technics SA-303. The build quality on the 5370 is definitly better. I do have the little SA-303 in my guest bedroom right now. Has a cool light show :D
