Technics SU-V8

Hi all.

I just bought a Technics SU-V8. Good condition, no dust or goo inside. Sounds good, so far, on a set of budgetspeakers.
Anyone know of any issues with this amp.

Happy SU-V8 owner.

Thx for your replies. I've hooked it up in a biamp setup, driving the subwoofers. Has a lot better control than the pioneer SA-708 that used to drive them.

Awesome purchase. The V8 is one of few Technics NewClassA amps with dual power supply. I would say it's pretty bulletproof. The V9s i have only issue is the controls, need to be cleaned.

The SU-V8 appears to be a 110 wpc, one-year-only model according to

I have a SU-V9 (81-82, same source). Not sure how much DNA they share but you would think some, to a lot.

If the are similar, you have a hell-of-a nice amp. Build quality on mine is superb. It seems to drive well beyond its' rated 120 wpc. Smooth and warm sounding as well.

My 16 yr-old son cried "channel problem" on his Yamaha A-520 once he hear the V9 and quickly claimed it as his replacement amp. Can't blame him... I like nice toys as well :music:

Hope the V8 works out well for you. Interested to hear what you think after the "getting to know you" period is over.
