That One Damn Vinyl Lp

Prince: The Rainbow Children. Not vintage by any means (released in 2001), and hardly one of his top sellers. But it's vinyl release was limited, and therefor a bit pricey. The real problem is - if I'm lucky enough to find (and afford) a sealed copy, I'm not sure that I'll be able to resist the temptation to open it up and spin it!

Yes, but not because it is a "collector´s item" (few people may know about it), but rather because it is the best performance of a work I love, the Pampeana # 3 of Ginastera: it is an LP that besides the Pampeana also contains Caamaño´s Sinfonietta ,performed by the National Orchestra of Argentina conducted by Victor Tevah, Angel (Argentina) SLPA-11204 (late 60´s-early 70´s) . Small market, I guess, prevented this great recording for being reissued on CD.

I'm reviving this ols thread because today I've found a copy of this LP, not in the best condition however and moreover, not the stereo but the mono release. Still, better than nothing! My search goes on....

Congratulations! I will keep my fingers crossed for you that a better copy presents itself someday.
 
I guess I'll never own an original 1st pressing stereo UK Beatles "Please. Please Me", on the "gold and black" Parlophone label. I've been known to spend silly money for some records in my collection. But 5K+ for an excellent example of the Fab's UK debut in stereo.......I'll either have to get real lucky or win the lottery!
 
I looked around for "Very Rare T-Bone" by T-Bone Walker, for years. It's late T-Bone and not his best, but I like it. I finally found it on CD and stopped looking for the vinyl.
 
I guess I have looked for it a bit since then, because when I Googled it just now it brought me to Discogs where I had apparently looked for it with this computer. Huh.
 
Mine are reasonably common but go for too much, I'd like an EX. 1st pressing of a Love Supreme in Mono on Impulse...please!!! I could mention others and I will...others are Blur self titled LP 1997 original. I don't usually buy them on CD but I did buy a few and still prefer the vinyl...Always for me. :thmbsp:
 
I've been lucky enough to find two of my top wants. One because of a great member of AK and the other was blind luck.

I still have a couple others but they were so rare to begin with that it's likely no more copies exist.

Beatles butcher cover. It's out there but I can't afford one :(

The disc plays fine, with background noise. I went though one deep cleaning session with with RCM. I guess a few more could improve the situation. The good thing is that everything I had in my mind regarding this recording was there and not an artifact of my imagination. For a moment I thought to be the main character of the film by Alain Resnais, "Last year at Marienbad" . That film poses the question as to which degree what we remember is an artifact of our mind.
