The Good Morning (Your First Logon for the Day) Thread

Good morning, y'all! We have a beautiful 78 and sunshine here today. There's not much going on. I do have a load of laundry and an errand to run to TJ's for white wine and milk. I'll stop by Great Clips for a haircut if they're not busy while I'm out. My knee feels ok, so I'll go walk the small park this afternoon. Have an awesome day, everyone!

Good morning! Sunny and upper 60s F for the walk, going to 81 with 25% chance of showers around noon. Yesterday it clouded up and we got the lightest mist for the shortest time. The way I know is I took the flag inside in case it really rained and it felt a little damp.

Nothing particular planned today. More noodling on what to do for camera club subject "Water." Big camera club has Trek SIG Zoom tonight.

Have a great day!

Good morning. It’s 36°F going to 63. It looks pleasant enough.

[A bit of whining and ranting ahead]

Yesterday I had my last board meeting with our running club. I've been in the club for over 20 years and on the board for about the past 15. The club has gone through a major change in the past 2 years. I may have mentioned this before. Some younger people have come on the board and instead of simple board meetings, they are now complicated: consent agendas, strategic planning, all sorts of extended discussion about stuff that doesn’t really matter, talking things to death. Plus, to access the agenda, which used to arrive in the body of an email, I have two access two different emails: one to get the link and the other to get into some cloud storage to access the agenda and all the reading material that goes with it.

Aside from that, our group runs have been group runs for years but the club has changed and now they are more like races. I’m the oldest still showing up and, while I am not that slow, I end up running “group runs” by myself. I complained that it not only takes away from the social aspect, it’s a safety issue, epsecially on some of the trail runs. I am ignored. So, I have pretty much dropped out of participating. It gets complicated because my wife is treasurer and race race director of two of our bigger events and I have been VERY involved in putting those on and have refused to volunteer anymore.

[Rant and whining ends]

Today, after the gyms and stuff, I plan to go to the art museum and visit with the artist-in-residence. She will be there for a month in a large studio space where she’ll make some work and later give a talk. It’s always fun and educational to interact with these artists they they work.

IN my own work, after a month-long lull, I’ve started a new drawing. It’s not “new” but one I did small a few years ago and am now making a start one, 22”x30”. It’s mostly graphit, some pastel, and style-wise, I suppose it falls under hyper-realism.

Good morning all, 55°F/13°C, blue sky with some overcast, air is still, had 1 5/8" of rain since we left on Saturday morning.

Have to say only a few fleeting sunny bits while we were in the White Mountains, but the overcast really ramped up the contrast of the turning leaves, which I would guesstimate as just past-peak. Returning home we find its just approaching peak, and we're only two hours and a bit south. Did shopping in outlets of North Conway, rummaging in the "antique" stores of Littleton, and just lot of driving about as leaf peepers. Food was fantastic, whether from restaurants or the little pizzeria/sub-shop down the street from our hotel.

Back in the real world now, have to get myself sorted quickly, get stuff ready to bring to Frankenfest on Saturday (if any), get membership in BBU updated and get signed up for Jamvember and the Joe Val Festival room lottery...and oh yeah, PRACTICE MY GUITAR(S). Also make up mind on Kaufman Acoustic Kamp for next June, wife has agreed for two weeks in Maryville (yes!).

Guess that's all, no watering at cemeteries today LOL. Lawn too wet to mow or rake.

@VinceInMT I am sorry for the problems you've had with what was once your beloved running club. The new generation seems to have lost their focus and is more busy using "tools" to set up their vision of a start up. If they cannot protect the last man in line they are the ones who have lost their way. You (and your wife) have been long and loyal to The Club. Please don't be their casualty Vince.

And with that, of course, keep safe everyone!

Good Morning,

Looks like a beautiful day today...73 degrees.

5 tons of wood pellets were just delivered into the garage.
We leave in an hour for the WB Mason show, at one of the gaudiest and tackiest places in the world...Foxwoods.

Maybe mow later in the afternoon.

I bought the usual food for the 'Fest on Saturday

Cheers.

Good Morning! Mostly clear with a few high clouds to the SE, lower 60s F for the walk, going to 75. First morning of the season that's a bit too cool in the shade for short sleeves.

Yesterday we had cumulus clouds as some places got some rain, so I went to Sahuarita Lake Park for some shots potentially for the subject of the month "Water." Results are kind of generic at first look, but better than having nothing.
During the Trek SIG meeting of the big club last night, I brought up a big auto museum in south side Tucson that amazingly no one had heard of. We have thoroughly enjoyed a somewhat smaller one on the east side that unfortunately is closing its doors, so will be looking at a mass visit to this one. The person who set up the previous trek will be looking into getting a semi private visit where we can take down chains like we did at the other one.

Today: early dinner meeting of the small camera club at a Mexican place up in Tucson. That's about it.

Have a great day!

Mornin’ friends,
Sunny and 77f today. Checking in after my 1st appointment, semiannual bilateral CMC joint steroid injections. Later today the general surgeon preop is at a bad time traffic wise given the Dodgers are on at 5:00. Will they show? If not for that we’d go a little bit farther from home to the Hat for a hot Pastrami Sandwich. Tricia’s favorite celiac cheat. Meanwhile I continue to roast beans to stockpile coffee for recovery. Have a great day,
John

TMI: I got my official revision surgery date, it’s the 24th of November because it’s an 8 hour procedure. 3 more weeks of no bicycle and life on hold. If it was up to me it’d be 3 sleeps.

Thanks for the kind words. I know that change is inevitable and, as they say, when one door closes, another one opens. It means there is another opportunity (or it means you are in jail.). ;-)

Good morning. It’s 45°F and going to 58. My usual Thurday thing, adoptions pool at a friend’s house is cancelled because the host has a Dr.’s appointment. The backup plan is always for me and one of the other guys to meet up at a brewery but he is out of twon. So, today is unscheduled. I think I’ll do some more baking. Cream puff and cookies sound like something to do. Why not?

Good morning all! Excellent dinner last night, although they were a bit late seating us. Our reservation was for 6:30, but we didn't get seated until 7:10. They made up for it by giving us free desserts.

Today Momma is going out to lunch with the ladies, tonight I'm playing pinochle with the guys.

Oh, and it's our 49th anniversary!

Take care and have a great day!

Mornin Friends,
Sunny with a high of 89f today, summer returns! Online traffic school is at the top of the day’s agenda. Hope it doesn’t take all day. Have a great one!
John

TMI: The general surgeon is great, she explained her role, maybe a little too well. I didn’t need to know the degree of delicacy of the involved veins along the spine she has to move - wet tissue. She said she figures an hour per vertebrae, but mine is “gnarly” and she has to stay for the duration. She’s not available for the 24th and can’t do it a week she’s on call so date certain eludes. Good thing I’m pushing 20 procedures requiring a general or this crap might make me nervous ;)
