The Knife Thread.....

Same here in California. You can own a switchblade.................period. You can't carry it, sell it, etc.

Add to that California-banned list any "knucked" blade.

I don't recall if knucked knives were/are also illegal in Florida, but one of my main "knife trading" pals, a prominent collector of military and various "automatic" blades, lived in Boca Raton, was always extra cautious when shipping/receiving automatic mechanism fitted knives.

Probably goes w/out saying -- though I will -- that automatic and knucked blades of any length are illegal in my now country of residence, i.e., France, and throughout the EU ... yeah, probably even in Hungary.

looks similar to my Shun knives, are the Paka wood handles also ordered to fit right or left handed users?
It is very similar to a Shun. The main difference is that the handle is a bit larger, and the whole knife is heavier, which I quite like. And yes, the handles are hand-specific. This one is actually a left hand model, as my dad is left handed, but it fits my right just fine.

Anybody have an opinion on this... guess it would be called a switch blade except it is quality built, costs $239.00. I was in a knife store killing time and they had these... ended up buying one and it is a great one hand pocket knife. Light weight, strong, built to last... a great little pocket knife that securely clips to the pocket inside or out. https://www.knifecommand.com/guardi...tic-knife-elmax-stonewash-drop-point-12-3511/

I like OTF knives.. the first one given to me was an inexpensive thing from a flea market, it was still cool and lasted over a year..
My nephew gave me a small Microtech for Christmas a few years ago, great pocket knife, I carried and used it everyday..
Middle of last year it stopped deploying and retracting correctly, and finally would not retract completely at all..
I just set it aside and started carrying assisted opening knives..
But your post made me think, and the Microtech has a lifetime warranty.. I contacted them, they ra'd it, and I shipped it off last week..
They said they were 2-4 wks out on repairs, so hopefully I'll have it back by 2022..

I have carried a Benchmade Mini Griptillian with a Sheepsfoot blade and a Spyderco inspired opening hole. Its compact, fits well in my pocket and has proved to be plenty tough for my needs. It holds an edge well and is easy to sharpen. I have had this knife in my front right pocket every work day for at least the last decade.

As a bonus I emailed Benchmnade to ask for a "deep pocket carry" clip and they mailed me a clip for this one and a clip for my full sized Griptillian at no charge. They even covered the shipping. Can't ask for much more than that!

I'm not familiar with the Microtech, didn't even know quality for these existed... I was surprised. They make great pocket knives, one handed and all. Yeah... the warranty, good company with that, no doubt a good service department, they'll send it back as new.

Today`s ridealong includes this first-gen Cold Steel Voyager XL (5" blade), which I modified with an ultra-low profile clip. Slim, light, disappears into a pocket.
