What's odd is this same thread comes up about every eight years, I think it's the same model unit for sale, someone must have a room full of NOS. Personally I would never open the box, I'd shrinkwrap it and save it. Buy another for a fraction of the price, the NOS stuff is worth 3-5x more but it's kind of silly to use it since it's turned into an investment. The same is true for boomboxes, they show up for big money NOS and they keep going up, while the used one is dirt cheap.
There is a video on YouTube that's about four years old of a guy going through a huge warehouse that has hundreds of NOS audio equipment. It's like the store/warehouse closed, they locked the doors and just went back in after 35 years. Everything you can think of is there still in the box on the shelves, Sansui, Marantz, Pioneer, speakers, EQs, etc. It's amazing and it has to be worth a small fortune.
