May need to open it to truly verify it is what it is claimed to be.
I agree, electrical components can age and be out of spec even though it's unopened NOS if it indeed is NOS.
And I agree bringing it up on a Dim bulb (or variac?) would be wise if it is truly 40+ years old.
Just today, I considered the Husqvarna my wife bought for Christmas 2019.
I have yet to use it. It sits in the orange case, never once fired up or used.
If I died, it might sit for decades unused.

The collector market for Marantz is obscenely high. I would have difficulty keeping it as a showpiece, knowing what other gear I could buy with the proceeds.
But we are all in a different place, so if having it in your possession brings you more joy than listening to it, congratulations!

But it's not NOS so even if a more sought after unit it won't have that adding to it's value.
This is actually a great thing, now you can use it without worrying about ruining the value.
And it's a good thing you didn't sell it unopened, if the new buyer had then opened it, try explaining that away lol.
Awesome its pretty much a 2325 with quad, 125 wpc in stereo 50 in quad. 2325 and 4400 both use the WC-43 wood case so that case should fit if thats what it is
I am going to plug in today and see what happens. I thought I saw someone say to leave it on for a couple days before use, is that correct?
I was thinking the same thing. It still appears to have very little use at all! I would still say it’s in excellent condition.
It was fun for that day and a half thinking it was NOS! Haha. Still excited to check it out!
(edit) feet screws are 8-32 - oem is metric M4 .7 but the 8-32 work for me. usa model 18 and 19 use 8-32

dont use too long of screws as they can get into the wiring, it doesnt look like the feet are on the 4400 usually those get moved to the bottom of the wood case when installing. if not used make sure there are pads on the bottom of the case.
actually the correct screw size is metric M4 .7, i use 8-32 and they work but could possibly affect the threading i read somewhere but i havent had any issues on mine and i have a few.
