The official AK golf thread

Spent some time working on some putting in my music room yesterday and also worked on my chipping motion. I don't really want to chip actual balls in there for fear of breaking some audio gear. I think it'll be a good season once we finally get going. My course usually opens the first week of April but I'm really Jonesing to get out there asap. ;)

Played a few times at my buddy’s house . He has a real nice set up in his 3 car garage with heat . We played Torrey Pines last week on his simulator and we played Pebble Beach this week . It’s a great set up , swing speed, launch angle , club face position , smash factor. Great way to get back in the groove for golf season . May 15 have a group of 16 guys that we are playing some of the best Northern coarse in Michigan . Arcadia Bluffs ,The Bear , Belverder CC just a few to name . Hits them solid boya :)

Been looking for a launch monitor with screen tracer but have not found a relatively inexpensive set up. The ones I looked at are in the $5k range which is too much. And there is an annual subscription fee which adds insult to injury. Having courses to play would be nice but not necessary. I need a simple hole where I can practice technique and get feedback from the tracer.

@SoCal Sam skygolf has a hand held swing monitor , that may fit your needs ,I have been looking at it all so but it seems to always be sold out ? Something i use is a tall mirror to check my set up on hand , arm and feet position , even my position on my shoulders . A huge feedback on the golf swing
P -posture .
G - Grip .
A - alignment …. :)

P.G.A., haha!

I've been watching Bryson videos.

My humble contribution:

Wifey has the beginning of plantar fascitis, and one of the home "remedies" is to put a golf ball on the floor and roll it around the bottom of your foot.

I don't golf, and didn't really want to buy a dozen golf balls just for this, so I stopped at the local golf course on the way home today. It's just down the street from out house. The driving range is next to the city's storm drain ponds, with a walking/bike trail between the two, which I use frequently. There are always errant drives on the edge of the ponds, so I went looking. Sure enough, there were several fine examples lodged in the dirt. Here's the jewel I found:

Getting the itch REAL bad now. Should be out there in less than a month now. Drove by my course yesterday and most of the snow has melted off the fairways and the restaurant at the course has been open for almost a month. Just regripped my old faithful putter this morning. Gotta go through my bag and clean all my clubs and get rid of the accumulated crap that ends up in my bag over the season. BRING ON THE SEASON ALREADY!!!!

New bag and GPS watch for Christmas. Though I’ve used them at least once each month over the winter months, I’m ready for some frequency to get my feel back.
Specifically my horrendous wedge game.

I thought about a Golf watch but I need reading glasses to see it. I use my Calloway rangefinder.

It was 76 here at the Jersey Shore on Friday so went out with my daughters BF for 9. We didn't keep score but all in all I was pleased. For not swinging a club for months I hit the ball pretty well. Drives were 250 ish and pretty straight. Nothing ended up in big trouble. Irons were a challenge but I think that more from the course. The turf was very hard so it was difficult to get underneath the ball. The upcoming week is going to be cold again but I think spring is near. Even the daffodils are blooming so it won't be lone now. Hit em straight fellas!

Got 9 in last week with my buddies in the high 50’s. A county muni, so wasn’t expecting much. Greens still had punch holes from last fall and the lies on the fairway were skinny. Still good to get a few swings in. We were all pumped and made reservations to play 18 tomorrow. The forecast fell like a stone, now high 30’s and windy. Did i mention this course is on the water? 3 of us knuckleheads are still going. I will be bringing my winter golf gloves and a flask.

Four Roses Small Batch in my flask.
Yours?

Played Twisted Dune yesterday. It was 60 and sunny but really windy. The ball blew all over but we had fun regardless. No flask for me but I did bring a six pack.:)
