Just out of curiosity, how would you compare the Digifine models to, say, the Mitsubishi DA series separates? (DA-P20 preamp, DA-A15 power amp, etc.)

Or to various Luxman models? (M-02 or M-4000 power amp, etc.)
 
Yesterday I bought a TD-V711 cassettedeck.

Lots of cleaning. (the whole mechanical bit), greased the capstan bearings.
Etc etc.
First to 2 seconds on play was too fast, after that normal.
As I read on tapeheads.net I had to replace both capacitors on the
DirectDrive board of the capstans, which I did.
Solved.

Amazing deck. I think top notch. Don't know if it would beat my
Denon DR-M44HX.

The amps compared to a luxman M-02 ?
No idea, I have a C-02 and M-02, but no JVC amp.
I think.... stay with the luxman.. But I could be wrong.
This JVC gear is great I think.
 
I got my TD-V711 for 7 bucks at Goodwill in very nice condition. Looks and works beautifully. I'd love to find some more of this type of JVC but it seems a bit rare/pricey.

I'm also a big fan of JVC products from the 70/80/90s, mainly Super Digifine lineup.

A few years ago i found a RX-1010VTN for 50€ (worked a couple of years and now has a malfunction: it has no sound or suddently blasts to the max volume!).

Last year a bought a tuner FX-1010 for 40€ and a couple of months i found a AX-Z1010 for 75€, which was my holy grail (for several and also sentimental reasons).

The tuner and AX-Z1010 both play flawless :banana:

My quest will continue for the DAT and CD player (1010 or 1050) :yes:
 
I had a 1050 CD player some years back. Trouble-free, very good-looking and very nice-sounding.
 
I recently acquired a JVC AX-Z1010TN amp and it sounds fantastic. There's stories going round that you would need to spend about £3000 to get equivalent performance with a new amp. Not ever being able to afford anything that expensive I can't really comment but it is certainly the best amp I've ever had in my system. It's also amazingly advanced for the end of the 80s with a superb on-board DAC and digital inputs.

Cassette Deck and Turntable

I have had a TD-V711 cassette deck since new. Still works perfectly. I use it for dubbing old cassettes from time to time.

I also have a QL-Y5F turntable. (not, obviously from the "Super Digifine" collection but of similar vintage).

Love them both.
 
It's great to see a thread dedicated to this under rated but very beautiful gear. Out of curiosity, does anyone know what the SuperDigiFine meant? What made it different than non SuperDigiFine.

It's ok, I think I figured it out. It stands for their Digital ready top of the line gear that had digital processors in the signal chain, and further, their flagship models such as the JVC AX-z1010 amplifier had a feature called "K2" which meant that they had sophisticated DAC and quadruple D/A converters plus Toslink and coaxial ready but only to 48hz. Very advanced for the late 80's.

Using a XL-Z1050 as my main cd player. Kicked my Carver to the curb with ease... Sounds excellent on its own and even better through the Arcam rDac. Very good transport, dead reliable.
 
Where does the AX-Z911 sit in the scheme of things? It's from 1988 which is a year earlier than the AX-Z1010 but looks very similar. Is it the next model down from the 1010 or did the 1010 replace it as the TOTL JVC amp?

If I remember correctly, it's one down from the 1010.
 
use to have the bottom left receiver in post 22.fine piece of gear.i have a xl-r204 5 disc cd changer and its a very fine unit.jvc is largely overlooked in the audio world for older stuff which means you can get good stuff for usually a lot less than other so called top brands.
 
I have a RX-1100V Receiver. Has one or two cold solder joints and loses the speaker connection. But when it plays, it is superb. Need to get my repair guy to look at it again. Gets damn hot too. What i'd call a winter amp. Cost me £80.

Also have a FX-1100 tuner. The mutts nuts. Great to look at and sounds superb. Cost me £5.

I'd buy more super digifine. Definitely.
