The official Music score thread

Ooops, driving by a used record store and my truck stopped.
Didn't cost much though. I bought:
Far Canal by Jody Grind, I haven't heard this since I was in HS
hanging out at the record store. Gave it a play, like it then, and
better than I remembered. :)
Texas Gold by Asleep At The Wheel, great Texas swing :)
2112 by Rush, somebody played it once. OK by me :)
For Sale by Fever Tree, Really great album, my first live show.:)
Full House by Fairport Convention, played once condition :)
Rock Will Never Die, Michael Schenker Group, Live at Hammersmith, need I say more? :)
Lastly,
Struck Down by Yesterday and Today, I used to see these guys all the time as a third bill group. Didn't know they put out a great album :)
I passed a Clover album and laughed out loud. I saw these guys a lot as a 3rd bill, they stunk. I figured WTF, played it and took the needle off in 4 seconds.

with all the stuff your getting lately, I assume the next thing you'll need is a new media shelf? ;)
I've been concentrating on cassettes lately. Lots of good stuff and some of it is not too bad sonically. Especially on a decent deck. mainly it is just for fun though, I mean how can you have more fun than 3 for a buck?

I've had the time to do my research lately. Most of what I listen to is not stuff you hear on the radio, at least around here. I
needed a few new media shelves for about a year now.:p:

$1 each. I've spent more one new CD than I spent on this lot!!
It's been a good day. I obviously hit someones prized collection.

Good deal Jaaani.... It is hard to pass up a complet collection like that. That was what I ran into in Atlanta a few weeks back... Ended up spending $100.00 for 100 LP's all in fine condition......

Omi, 100 albums has got to be the score of the century! I'm very picky with my buys although at $1 a pop I should be less of a perfectionist. Have you ever run across those old RCA Victor Living Stereo lp's? The first couple of times I went to GW I can swear I saw alot of these from someones collection. I didn't know they were so valuable until I did some curious googling on them. I went back to GW and all that was left was a Belefonte double album in Living Stereo in very poor condition. Damn, I was pissed. I don't think I'll get another opportunity like that again. But, you never know :D :D :D

found a few more LP's in excelant condition of folks whom I had never listed too.

1. earl Klugh - Soda Fountain Shuffle.... Jazz... Did some lookin and he is top notch... Liked the music and will keep my eye out for more.

2. Mike Post Coalition - Fused... 1969 Instrumentals with top notched studio musicians.

3. Tom Smith - Still Life... Contemporary guitar (1978)... Nice...

4. David Sanborn - Hideaway...Jazz...I liked it...

5. Jeff Lober Fusion - Galaxian ... Jazz... 1981 Promo LP... I liked it also...

And well you should be. Let me know about the Lindisfarne- they are an old sentimental favorite- their 1st 2 albums were superb. Steeleye Span is another fav........

Stopped in to my local TS yesterday after work and there were 2 new boxes of LP's on the floor. Was sitting down and giving a quick look and the guy asked if I was looking for anything special. Said no and he said someone ahd dropped of 10 or 12 boxes of records he got off of EBay and asked if I wanted to look at 'em.... YEPPERS... Said I would be back this PM after work. Hit the TS at 1700 and did not find the guy so started to look in the one box again. Came up with a sealed DAVE MASON - OLD CREST ON A NEW WAVE LP and then we had a power outage. Asked if he was working in the morn. Said yes.... So my day will start with a trip to the TS at 0800 and a look at the other 10 or so boxes of LP's wish me luck....

Went through 10 boxes this AM. Most was junk, but found 22 keepers that were in great shap. Just finished cleaning 'em up (trying spin clean - POOR MANS record cleaner) and putting in clean poly sleves. Will start to listen in a bit. And here they are:

The Best of The Mamas and the Poppas – unopened
John Denver
Beginnings
Rocky Mountain High
Back Home Again
Windsong
Richard Bettes
Crosby, Stills & Nash – Daylight Again
Eagles – Hotel California
Bruce Springsteen – The River
Whitney Houston - Whitney Houston
Dave Loggins – Country Suite
Grace Slick – Welcome to The Wrecking Ball
Jackson Brown – Running On empty
Ten Years After – Rocky and Roll Music To The World
Cat Stevens – IZITSO
ELVIS
Elvis (3 ea)
Aloha from Hawaii Via Satellite
Moody Blue
Sings Hits From His Movies
That’s The Way It Is

Thats funny, I saw someones John Denver collection the other day also. Don't like him so I passed. Many of the same albums you got.

I did see some early Linda Ronstadt. I mean like her first and second albums but the vinyl were in poor condition so I sadly put them back.

I think Goodwill has the best lp selection so far around my way. However I did snag the living stereo shaded dog label at a Salvation Army store. You never know I guess.

I started with 15 or so albums from my personal collection. I now have 50 albums and my collection is in growing mode. :D

The number of albums grows exponentially based on the number of visits to the TS. You start with 2… then 4… then 8…then 16……. Then 32… then 64… then 128 .. then the wife starts yelling…

I have an old PL-41 TT and it came with a new replacement stylus… So I figured I would change it out… Then hit the contacts in the head shell and arm with a bit of deoxit on a tooth pick with cotton….. Now the TT sounds like %^&&**((*&^%$##$%%^^&. Not sure what the hell I did… Was looking forward to listing to Elvis… It sounds so bad I thought my DSS-9’s died… Have FM on and NPR on and the DSS-9’s still sound fine!!!!! Hope the TT has a miraculous remission and comes back to life…

Got a couple of Lp's from garage sales.

Aretha Franklin Young, Gifted and Black
Spanky and Our Gang Here to Get
Byrds Greatest hits

And the best for last :D
Johnny Rivers At the WHiskey a Go Go in sweet shape ! Could not pass on them for a mere .50 cents each.

Passed on millions of CD's cuz....well I dont like em. Also passed on some great classic rock stuff like the Doors and such on LP. I just dont need these but would be happy to pick em up for anyone who would.

Grumpy

Well, I should have passed on that particular Lindisfarne (a 1974 LP), turned out to be wimpy pop music.:puke:

The Steeleye Span on the other hand is incredible!!!
A "last hurrah" live performance leaving nothing in reserve making me really wishing it was a double LP. I would say it is a must have for fans.

Benefit is my favorite Tull. I flat wore out 2 copies, have a decent one, and found a mint one for 1.99 last month.
It pleased me to no end when they finally played a couple songs live after 25 years.

Also got a chile verde burrito with double jalepenos at the Public Market next door but I haven't played a tune of it yet. :p:
