The Official *Technics SL-1200* Owners Club

That looks really cool, but aren't you worried about all that extra weight taking its toll on the turntable?

No worries whatsoever. The Applied Fidelity upgraded bearing that I had installed can handle the extra load and the tt motor is up to the challenge with inertia as an added bonus.

Ok. Lets SEE it! welcome. don't just duck in and leave, hang out a while!

Looks like all the other stock tables with a bit of dust and the wording half worn off the power switch. :) I've been reading a lot and trying to actually do my job at the same time. No photos yet. Just ordered a JICO Shibata stylus for the 680EL that is installed. I need to trace out a grounding issue, I get hum with the ground wire grounded, a bit less with it not. I aslo need to replace the pop up lamp and dust cover. All in all, not a bad buy for $150.

I had a similar hum problem. It was actually corrosion and oxidation on the headshell contacts (the ones on the back where it enters the arm). I cleaned these with steel wool and a pencil eraser. Did the same on the contacts on the arm side. No more hum.
Check out Viperfrank on you tube. He has a great tutorial on upgrading the bulb to an LED. MUCH longer lasting and you could even pick a colored LED.
I did this to a MK2 I just finished restoring.

Thanks. I'll give it a look.
I've got my entire deck torn apart and awaiting parts. :) Trying to figure out what color I'm going to paint her and if I even will. I need to get a good dry transfer logo / text to replace what I paint over if I do. Looking for a local guy now.

Finally I got mine

Well today I am a proud owner of a 1200MK2 myself! It's equipped with a Rega 250 and Mitchell Techno Weight and incognito wiring. I havent decided which cartridge to use but will try between Grado, Denon, AT and some other ones i have

The blue Numark mixer is still in use, hopefully to be replaced by a rotary mixer.
The Behringer mixer shown has now been replaced with a Numark CM-200.

I don't actually have a SL-1200 but a SL1400. Anyone know how different it is?
I like to change the arm eventually to maybe a Rega RB300 or RB301.
