Yeah in the 90s and later name Elite was placed on many non high quality stuff. Real high end Elite stuff was made in 80s and early 90s where cheap video amplituners with plastic fronts got Elite name.

I just picked up a pd-95 at a thrift store and it loads the disc's in but then they never start spinning to be read then it just moves through the line up of 1 through 6 disc's then stops and says no disc.im going to have to open it up and see what's not right inside.if anyone knows what it isn't doing right please let me know.

Just like the title says, post the Pioneer "ELITE" gear you own. In other words, it "HAS" to say the word "ELITE" on the front of the component.
I just posted another thread for SPEC gear and noticed I had a couple of Elite components in the picture I posted, so I decided to do an Elite gear thread as well.
I'll star us off here, although I used to have much more Elite gear, this is what I still have left:
Pioneer Elite PD-65 CD Player (3 of them)
Pioneer Elite DV 45A DVD/CD/SACD Player

I own a Pioneer VSX-99 Elite Reference series AV receiver and I love it. I use it in two channel stereo mode most of the time and it has great sound. This model is designed well and has high end Nichicon audio series capacitors throughout, including low ESR main filter capacitors. It sounds better than my Rega BRIO integrated. I have it connected to a Pioneer SACD player and Harmon Kardon CD-491 cassette deck through IMF ALS-40 speakers.Just like the title says, post the Pioneer "ELITE" gear you own. Great topic about the famous Pioneer Elite series.
In Europe this sries has no 'ELITE' sign.
I had to repair my own Pioneer A91D in 2013 after a stupid mistake i made and blew up the digital part and some other components.
The problem started wiht a high pitch sound and after a painstaking rapair for months i also replaced two omron relais that caused the high pitch sound and ultimately got it 100% working again.My ric is a A91D, PD91, CT91a and F91
I made a extensive repair blog (Dutch) of the repair at hififorum.nl vintage pioneer a91dversterker kapot door blunder...................!!!!!
Also in working condition now

My one and only Pioneer device, Elite, or Pioneer anything, happens to be a 1991 purchased new, & zero problem/issues since purchase & heavy used through out the nineties ~mid 2000s Laser disc player: model CLD-95.
And would still be installed in my living room`s A/V rack, & occasionally used, if I decided to track down and purchase a recently serviced and mint used via eBay, a Mc. (rebranded higher quality Pioneer Elite laser) disc player : model MLD-7020 around 8 yrs. back
The multi decades old Pioneer Elite CLD-95 laser disc player was still operating perfectly when pulled from the A/V rack and is currently stored in a spare bedroom closet.
I`m certainly impressed with the Elite series products performance, long trouble free life, and build quality of the 2 Pioneer electronics that I`ve owned.

I think the Elite`s steel chassis` copper coating is probably for better ingress/egress RFI rejection shielding performance resulting in higher quality A/V results.Build quality is exquisite! Both of my Pioneer Elite series laser disc player are quite hefty in weight, with a lot of internal beefy cast metal for the mechanical frame structure.
Even their CD playing quality is exceptional for a multi type disc-format player.

Here's my small Elite stack, doing its thing in my photography studio. Both are estate sale pickups (different sales). I actually use the DVD player only as a CD drive, it's great--and totally overkill--for that, and damn does it look good. It's currently pumping out, through some Boston Acoustics A-100s, a bit of John Coltrane + Don Cherry.
