Try Al Stewart's "Time Passages" or "Year of the Cat" on a good system.

Cranked up loud, when that sax starts to wail it gives me goose bumps (is that as good as a chill down the spine?). Can't get enough of that rich sound!

Oh, yes, another vote here for GL's "Wreck of the EF" - what a powerfully evocative song!

For me, "Oh Well" by early Fleetwood Mac. I heard the song on the radio years ago and never knew who it was by or the name of the song. After hearing it about 10 times on the radio, I finally got the info and found a mint Japanese copy of the LP. Loved it and still do.

I recently picked up Al Stewart's Time Passages LP in a thrift store for $1.00

Guitar solo in Comfortably Numb still gives me chills
Pink Floyd - Set the Controls (For the Heart of the Sun) gives me chills also.
 
The 4th movement of Beethoven's 9th Symphony. So beautiful. I think if I heard it in person I would start crying simply because it is so beautiful.
 
George Jone's rendition of "The Wall". About the Vietnam Vets wall in Washington DC. I'm not a vet but the song really hits home.
 
Just about anything by Sinatra on Capital. My favorite would be "Angel Eyes" ...'scuse me while I disappear...

One Way Or Another by Blondie - That song creeps me out. I don't know what their intention was; but man, I get paranoid when I hear:

I will drive past your house
And if the lights are all down
I'll see who's around

Especially with that slightly gutteral voice...creepy stuff.

And dittos to the Edmund Fitzgerald, and Amazing Grace played on bagpipes.
 
"Judy Blue Eyes" by Crosby, Stills and Nash and "Angie" by the Rolling Stones are two that do it for me. "Angie" brings back a lot of memories of my younger days and the guitar work and lyrics in "Judy Blue Eyes" stirs up a lot of emotion for me. :smoke:

Excellent choice, although Stormy Weather or Night and Day are equally transcendant.

As much as I dig Sinatra, my personal turn on would have to be the entire second side of The Beatles, Abbey Road. The songs just flow into one. I purposely do not have this on CD. If I had it in my car I would just get arrested around "She came in through the Bathroom Window"
 
The first 45 seconds of track 3 on Dixie Chicks 'Wide Open Spaces". Why can't all CDs sound like this?
 
Chills and tears- Janis Joplin singing 'Maybe' from I Got Dem 'Ol Kozmic Blues Again Mama! (1969) Totally believable blues.
