Make sure you download the newest version of View NX-i - I wouldn't use what came with your camera as that is pretty old now.

Flowers are fascinating when you can get in real close. There is a labyrinth of colored filled spaces. Natural early morning light. Shot years ago with a Nikon Coolpix, my 1st digital camera.

I think this is an Iris, but don't really know. I'm not much of a flower person. Pic is a couple hours after an afternoon rain. I thought I had the camera set to record both raw and jpeg, but apparently not since only the jpeg appeared on the card. Pic is not re-touched at all. I should probably crop slightly to get rid of the slight flare near the top.

edit: the second pic has been slightly cropped and retouched. Also, a friend has positively id'd as an Iris.

GuyK my wife says that is a Lousiana iris. She has a lot of irises planted out. Here is an example of a bearded iris of hers. The colors can be amazing.

Starting Monday, anything related to Memorial Day.

This is the south end of an art installation in Magnuson Park, in Seattle. Titled The Fin Project: From Swords to Ploughshares, by John T.Young. This is one of the dive fins from the de-commissioned nuclear submarine SSN-638 "Whale". The flowers in the foreground were evidently placed there either by someone that served in this vessel, or in memory of someone that did.

The rest of the installation are more dive fins from 10 other subs arranged in a manner that resembles a pod of Orca whales, but they won't all fit in a single image.
