Yeah, I've seen several threads on these (the model, not this specific pair) before. They are supposed to sound very nice, but I think the average value is around $600, if I recall?
Very similar sounding to Acoustats.

Well if his asking price is any indication for a pair of Acoustic Studio Monitors (aka white van) he has no clue.

Interesting. The original owner was using them with the same electronics I ran mine for for years. I would be a bit concerned with the work done in the '80s as by that time there was only 2 guys who had the ability to do anything with them and had the parts. Both were in the Boston area, were the members of Art's team when he went to KLH to do a production run and when KLH discontinued them between them they bought all the inventory. They split the work between them, pne did the powersupply rebuilds and the other the panels. A total rebuild exclusive of shipping was $1,500 per pair. WHen I spoke to them however, they no longer had any of the low end panels and while having looked into making them decided against it. About a year later I decided to have one of my sets done but one number was disconnected and the other told the sad story. Both gents had died within months of each other and the widow said she had to deal with rooms and a basement full of old electronic stuff and finally just ordered a dumpster. She was not sure but thought the widow of the other gent did likewise as she was moving to live with her children.
At the time David was not offering repair services.
To the OP. Actually, the Maggies look like the Nines. In an interview decades ago, the developer of the Maggies had listened to and wanted the Nines but also did not want or think they should be so complex with the need for a power supply nor crazy as to their impedence and capacitance that made them difficult to drive and with most ss amps would cause the amp to melt down. Hence, he designed the Maggies and met the goal as to impedance as they were almost linear across the frequency band.
When first introduced we got a sample and it looked like the Nine from the front and came close to sounding like it. Sadly, they tended to melt down drive even at the levels Nine owners drove theirs which was not loud by any measure. It took some time to get that problem solved.

There's a pair KLH 9 pair in Jersey as well. The price is the same but the seller is throwing in a few more items into the pot.

I vote "nothing"! What a stupid way to sell something. Either they've gone way up in value in the past year or these guys are high.

These sold for $2,500 new and equivalent quality units today sell for a heck of a lot more so, I do not find the price insane. Especially of the rebuilt had the power supplies results.
For me, the set for $2,500 that has the bonus is most interesting as it has the Mattes power amp. If I were down there and not in my present medical and age condition I think I would likely go for a lookup and listen. I suspect the records will be decent and possibly the tapes, if pre-recorded will be of the same musical genre. The Ampex may need the earlier series or, later transport as the Nines bridged both periods. The Mattes is from the period of the earlier transport.
What has had me scratching my head for some time was awhile ago when persons started to first rediscovered the Nines, the going price was about $450, the same price as for a used pair of Klipsch Heresys. Considering the difference in quality and sound, if the Nines were only worth $450, the Heresys should have been selling for maybe at most $100. Shows you just how fickle the market can be. And, no I am not offering or suggesting I would sell my HIIs for that type of money.

I saw a fully functioning pair sit down in Texas last year for quite a while at $500.

If they get near their asking price, I'll bet you will kick yourself. Heck I remember not long ago you could buy Marantz 9s for $100 each mint and with box, etc and original tubes. And more recently Sherwood tube amps for less than $50 in good+ physical and working condition.
