this is the ugliest thing I've seen in a while

Are you guys kidding??? I LOVE this thing. LOVE IT. I would restore the paint and get that interior replaced (it can't possibly cost more than a few hundred for a decent junkyard interior) and repair the slant six. /6 engine is a rock that never ever ever breaks. OF COURSE.... he's totally out of his mind with the asking price. Even if it turns out to be a Barris its so ugly I wouldn't pay more than maybe $500. But you guys that hate it need to take a good look at the crazy comedy value of that beast. I would drive it around anywhere.

Umm.. Yeah.

Halfway decent engine. For longevity, not performance.

The car probably handles like ****... Before the "upgrades."

As did all chryslers/ Dodge of that period.

Did Chrysler/ Dodge EVER make a car that had decent steering?

STeering? Why? Mopars only need to go fast in a straight line. I had a 69 Road Runner for a long time and I remember some magazine writer describing the handling of the Road Runner as rock solid on the straights but if you tried to turn it was "a runaway truck on a frozen lake" which pretty much sums up all b-bodies between 68 and 74. And beyond. I don't know what the new ones are like. Better?

It must be fast. The speedometer goes all the way to 85mph.
Ad says: "Has slant six that runs good but smokes a tiny bit."

All that and a slant six too??? !!!

I don't remember the original Ford Capri as being a bad car.

In fact, considering the period it was produced, I think it was a fairly decent car. It had moderately good handling and power. No, it was not a sports car but was a fairly decent two door coupe.

I think Ford later distributed in the US, an Australian two seater convertible to compete against the Miata.

It was, again, not a bad car. Not as good as the Miata but decent for what it was.

The only real problem with the Capri was it was overweight and prone to rust ...

My first car was a 75 Cordoba. The fine, Corinthian leather (I believe "Corinthian" was short for vinyl-impregnated leather) was a fine, royal blue (I'm still looking for those rare, blue cows; I presume it's their rarity that drove up the vehicle's value). It had 50K miles on it when I bought it and died about three years, automotive-abuse-filled years later, but in between, it had an awesome stereo that saw me through years of road trips.

But it wasn't as ugly as this vehicle.

It has a certain look, but $4000 goes a medium way toward a solid down payment on a car you really want, rather than a pseudo nose job on a car you wouldn't buy in the first place. The nose bob doesn't even make it a subpar superbird, it makes it a dodo bird...and they are extinct! Did Cordobas come with a slant six in the first place?

Homer Simpson still says his car is "kuuler"

I dunno. Mine, a 1975 model, had a 360 V8. But I was never a Cordoba nut, obsessed with all things Cordoba. Instead, I just drove it.

never seen one of those ..bit of cortina in the rear end i see

Never thought of the Cortina Pete. My mind went the way of the T-Bird (57). Just a little less (or more) emphasized on the rear flare. The lines on the Capri just flow together beautifully. And the rear seat design of the Capri was pretty close to the Birds wrap around bench seat design.

Great lookin' car!

Only aspect I would have changed was...to drop the double headlights and make them singles. The twins belong on a much bigger front end. Dolly would disagree though.:)

Anyone think this?
